文档简介

the current educational system in chinaeducation in china has a long history. since thousands of years ago, people were educated in the old style private school. they sat properly with respect and awe in front of the teacher and fixed their eyes on the books. today, we still go to school to study like ancient people did. now lets have a look at the current educational system in china. nowadays, children usually are sent to school at a very young age, like 3 or 4. there does exist particular cases that parents send their babies, who are under the age of 2, to kindergarten. usually, the children get in touch with some basic and easy knowledge. and they learn how to sing and dance and perform. meanwhile, theyll have a happy time there. at the age of 6, all boys and girls are supposed to be sent to elementary schools to start the nine-year compulsory education, during which they neednt pay for the tuition. at this time, they begin to study more subjects, such as history, english, chemistry, biology, art, p.e. in the ninth year, the students are faced with the first important examination, the high school entrance examination, which will count a lot. and at the same time, many senior high schools announce the lowest accepted score and prepare to enroll new students. some students who pass the examination can get into senior high school. as for the students who fail, some of them may go to technical schools or art schools, while some will stop their school life and have to help their parents or leave the hometown to work in factories. as is said, senior high school is the roughest and hardest time during ones school life. students have to study something profounder and more difficult. to make sense of what the teachers say, they must work harder. so, its not strange if a student stays up late doing the homework. when the second school year comes over, all the students must make an important decision: to be a liberal art student or a science student. after theyve made the decision, they will be reformed and put into different classes. many students find it hard to make up their mind, and they know what they decide may affect their future. they encounter a troublesome situation. what a liberal art student and a science student hold in common is that both of them should study chinese, mathematics, english, music, computer and p.e. apart from the three subjects, a liberal art student should study history, politics and geography, while a science student should study biology, chemistry and physics. when in grade three of the senior high school, students will face the most significant point, where they put all their efforts and energy in preparing for the college entrance examination. before the examination, usually, the school will hold three diagnostic examinations. it is the very moment when students study hardest and try their best. it is also the very moment when parents and teachers care about most. after the examination, some students receive the admissions from colleges or academies. some of the others may stay in the senior high school to start their fourth school year, wishing to get better grades in the examination of the next year. the rest of the others start to work as adults to support themselves, or worse, get married and become parents. it is similar to what has happened after the high school entrance examination. with regard to the college life, maybe it can be described as colorful and interesting. in college, students can not only acquire a lot of professional knowledge, but also develop their interrelationships and experience social activities and life. there are different lectures that are accessible to students. the school also offers documents and materials. students are encouraged to their own theories if they make sense. students must pass all the exams before getting the bachelors degree in their fourth school year. then they can graduate from college. many students will go to companies to find a job and set up their own family. some students will stay at school to study more and get their masters degree or even their doctors degree. some will go abroad to take a further education or to experience new lifestyles. the current educational system in china is better than decades ago in many aspects. though the government has take measures to reform it, many people, as well as i myself, think that there are still many problems. in some foreign countries, children can receive a longer-year compulsory education. so, their parents neednt worry much about the tuition. as a result, children can get better education. maybe we can apply that policy to our educational system, making more children go to school and study for a longer time. and i think it unreasonable to make division of subjects in the first semester of the second senior high school year. why cant students choose all the subjects or some they are interested in to study? why must they choose either to be a liberal art student or a science student? we highlight quality education. but it seems like the direct goal of our education is simply to pass the college entrance examination. students are forced to recite and remember a lot of knowledge and practice for many times. it may be hel
