strategy is the learning strategy which is used to learn english while the learning strategy presents the strategy used to learn different kinds of languages. it contains six parts: memory strategies, cognitive strategies, compensation strategies, metacognitive strategies, affective strategies and social strategies. as we know that now the world there is no certain definition of learning strategy, though the researchers try to interpret the characteristics of learning strategy from different viewpoints. but we can generally think that if the learning activity is treated as process of information processing, then learning strategies include any explicit behaviors and implicit psychological activities which can promote the information processing. specifically speaking, english leaning strategies refer to the effective learning process, rules, methods, skills, and regulations for the learners. when we finished the course called english learning strategy, we did an investigation about it. then, from the general average score and respective average score of mine, i find that ive used compensation strategies , affective strategies ,cognitive strategy and social strategy much more frequently ,memory strategies and metacognitive strategies relatively less. that i use cognitive strategies frequently results from several preconditions. the initial and essential precondition must be my own individualities, since that i am curious about those new and interesting things, happening around the world, especially the culture of uk. for the sake of being able to appreciate the splendid english culture, i need to grasp the language of english at least. and to remember enough words is the first step. besides, it is that i like to stay calmly and do some intellectual activities that i always enjoy reading new books and remembering some new and interesting words, watching varieties of foreign movies and tv shows and literatures. it would be an enjoyable and fascinating psychological journey for me. i like it and always enthusiastic about doing this. after my appreciation, i will come up with a general or sometimes concrete conclusion to let myself know that i have ever done it or just to write down some of my comments and impressions. such a conclusion can not only become such evidence to proof yourself but also add to your apprehension about the books youve or the movies and shows youve appreciated before, which will naturally lead you to a deeper understand of those literatures. whats more, i always believe that we shouldnt feel satisfied with what weve got while we still cannot use them practically. thus , once ive learned new words , i would prefer to practice them with the natural english speakers or english major classmate to improve my english , for i believe that only practice makes perfection. when it moves towards social strategies, then the social condition plays a very important role in it. in todays academic community, the real practice means a lot, and the theory of knowledge seems to be so weak when it meets with the practical behavior. it calls for indeed practice and experience. thus, ive used social strategies much more frequently compared against others. for example, i will seek for chances to talk with or communicate with others and when i cannot catch up with others, i will modestly pardon for a slower speed and put forward with my questions. i will not feel depressed, since i know mistake is the basic of success and i need to jump over this obstacle which resists my pursuit of victory.except for the former strategies, compensation strategies and affective strategies cannot be neglected, for i use them frequently to help improving my english. compensation strategies help overcoming limitations in speaking and writing. i admire it because of its benefits in expanding and enlarging my vocabulary number and helping me to express information much more easily and clearly to others even if im also not really familiar with it. thus when i was talking with others, i often use social strategies to make up for my weakness. such as guessing the topic or the words before the discussion, using the familiar words and sentences to replace the one that youve forgot or you dont know and cannot express, performing the body gesture to make others understand your meaning and expression more clearly and easily. and social strategies really benefit me a lot, when i was in trouble in writing, i may sometimes forget some words or meet with some new words then i will think up another words of phrase to replace the difficult one. as you can see, social strategies not only benefit me in social communicating , but also produce an effective effect in my writing. then when it relates to affective strategies, i can say that affective strategies are fairly stimulating and indeed easy methods i use to help my language learning. it aims at lowering your anxiety, encouraging yourself, taking your emotional temperature. when i was learning english i always combine it with compensation strategies and cognitive strategies. it will add to my confidence and courage, helping me grasps the language of english. i think that it is mostly because of my quiet characteristic that leads to my supplication of it.from my result of investigation, it is relatively obvious that i didnt carry out memory strategies and metacognitive strategies sufficiently. depending upon my idea, the elements which lead to lack in practicing memory strategies may be that i dont like to learn one project stiffly. but through one semesters study on english learning strategies ive found that memory strategies are not equal to remember english words one by one, it also includes many other creative and efficient methods which can be took to remember english words. and it of course will be a beneficial tool to enlarge my vocabulary. the remember strategies provide me with variety of ways to improve my vocabulary remember. for instance, we can remember words through the change of their situation and address on the page or on the advertisement. besides, i can store words form the comprehensive supplication of their pronunciation, accent , similar words and shape .whats more, we can use these new words to make a piece of performance and keep these new words in our mind when we are appreciating the play and greatly impressed by it. i know that i havent take most out of memory strategies, thus, i have decided that i will try to make some word cards, or use those new words to make up sentence , or use body gestures to perform the meaning of those new words to begin to take most out of memory strategies. i will remind myself of the strategy all the time when learning english and try to make full use of it.and i also lack in the use of metacognitive strategies. the most important reason for it may be that metacognitive strategies didnt make me feel satisfied, since it emphasize on method and chance seeking, conclusion drawing , aim assuring and time schedule making. however, when i was using the other strategies, every time i received some new and useful english words or i felt that my english speaking and writing skills had improved, i would feel satisfied with myself and being proud by myself. but now i have recognized that metacognitive strategies are also very important to my english study, i cannot learn english well without it. for the sake of the english learning, i promise myself that from now on, i must make myself accustomed to drawing conclusions, and develop a habit of contemplating after reading and studying. except for it, i must also make clear of my goal on english study, setting a schedule to arrange my daily life, spare time and make sure that in which i was lacking, looking back to my previous english learning process. i believe that if only i can insist on using these strategies, then there must be possibility for me to improve my english learning.to s
