Unit 4 Enjoy YourselvesTpioc 1 What can I do for you?Good morning, everyone! I am very excited to be here to talk about my teaching opinion. Today, I,d like to say Unit 4 of Project English in Grade Seven. The topic of this lesson is “What can I do for you ?” First let me talk about the analysis of the teaching materials.一、 The analysis of the teaching materialsThere are so many modern clothes and nice food for people in nowadays. Most students are interested in shopping. So the topic can attract students attention. But few of them know something about shopping in English. Its very important for students to learn the rest of the topic. The teaching aim is to get students to learn to talk about shopping and making suggestions. The difficulties and focus are the new words of numbers and some expressions about shopping and making suggestions. For example: “What can I do for you ?” “Can/May I help you ?”“How much?” “What about?Next, my teaching methods.二、 Teaching methodsOur students hardly ever learn English untill they go to junior high school.They have learned Englisn for only a few months. So their English is very poor. To develop students, interests of learning English. Teachers should put all kinds of teaching ways to good use.1. First of all, I break the traditional teaching ways. I use the English songs、chant and bingo games to attract children,s attention. All the games require children to work together. They are very pleased to take part in these activities. For example, in teaching 2a, students are asked to use numbers to play the bingo game. The work goes very successfully.2. Next, role play. Several groups of students are given enough language materials. Each member is expected to perform a specific role. For example, in teaching activity 1a ,different students are asked to perform the mother、daughter、salesman and saleswoman. This idea gives the students many opportunities to practice communication skills. It,s very helpful for them to learn English well.3. Finally, I bring contents together. The different contents of this topic are integrated. Usually, the teacher needs to design some conversations including all the contents of this lesson. Students are learning vocabulary and having language experiences in completing the well-designed language tasks. For instance, in this lesson. I get 1a、1b and 2a together. After listening and reading 1a and 2a, children are asked to complete 1b. Then the group leaders check the answers. At last, children role play 1a and 1b.三、 Teaching stepsNow, let me introduce my teaching steps. As we know,“Well begun is half done.” A good beginning will not only warm the class up at once, but also give good preparation for the presentation.At first, I ask students to sing a song with me. For instance,“Old Mcdonald had a shop , E-I-E-I-O”. Next ,I lead the class into the language environment by asking them questions .“Do you like shopping?” “Would you like to know something about shopping in English?” The class answer together, “Yes, I,d love to!”“Well,” I say ,“please look at the screen.” I make them watch the screen and listen to the conversation. They need to listen at least three times untill they can repeat the important sentences . Because “The road to happiness is full of hardships.”Next, activity 2a and 2b ,I take the same idea as 1a. Students look、listen and learn for several times. At the same time, I ask them to pay attention to the streses and syllables. Then I devide students into several groups to perform this skit with the help of real clothes. And then, I show the usage of useful phrases on the screen. Students recite them.After this, they are asked to complete activity 1b. After checking the answers, they practice the conversation in pairs. Well, it,s time to practice listening. Activity 2c, students look, listen and match the clothes with the right prices, check the answers.In addition, in order to raise students, ability of using English, it,s necessary to give students proper homework.A: What can I do for you?B: I would like to buy a coat.A: What/How about the green one?B: No, I don,t like the color at all.A: Why not buy the red one? It looks very nice.B: All right. How much is it?A: Sixty yuan.B: OK. I,ll take/get it.四、 Summary and pondering The main content of this topic is to learn to talk about shopping and the numbers. At the same time, the teacher should get students to know how to make suggestions. My teaching steps are very simple, but they include listening, speaking, reading and writing. I put all kinds of teaching ways to good use. I think a good teacher with much experience should not only teach the students some knowledge, but it is more important to teach the students how to learn by themselves. A good teacher shoul
