SEFC Book1 Unit 12 Art and literatureWarming up ,Listening Speaking Deng YumeiNankang Taiwo Middle School1、Analysis of the material(1)Simple analysisThe topic of this unit is “art and literature”, and the whole unit is spread around this topic. Painting, music, film and so on are involved in order to help the students to have a general idea about some forms of art and literature. This lesson is the first period of Unit12. It has three parts-Warming up ,Listening and Speaking. It is a listening and speaking lesson .Listening and speaking is the most foundation, the most activity and the most convenient style of teaching, and it is one of the most important items. It can train students oral English ability and improve their spoken English.(2)Teaching aims1)Aims of knowledgeMaster the new words and useful expressions in this period.Get the student to think about art and literature.Talk about how they feel about art. How to appreciate famous paintings.2)aims of abilityTrain the studentslistening ability.Use many kinds of ways to improve the studentsspeaking ability.3)Aims of moral educationPractice asking for and giving information.(3)Focal points and difficult points Focal points:.Train the studentslistening and speaking abilities.Know about some famous artists.Make decisions and give opinions. difficult points:How to improve the students listening ability.Encourage the students to speak English as much as possible.How to finish the task of speaking well.2.Teaching aidsA tape recorder, some books and a computer3.Analysis of the studentsThe students of Senior Grade 1 are interested in learning English. They have confidence in themselves. They learn something new very quickly. Especially famous paintings.4.Teaching methods1)Listening and answering activity can help the students go through with the listening material.2)Let the students discuss freely in class.3).Group discussion5.Learning methods1)Individual, pair or group work to make every student work in class. 2)Five steps of teaching from easy points to difficult points step by step. 3)Task style of teaching: Listening Task , Speaking Task , Practicing Task6.Teaching proceduresStep1.Greetings Getting the whole class.Step2.lead in Lead in by Showing some paintings and some famous books t asking the students its painter and writer.Purpose: Arouse the student interest in study and begin Warming up. In this step, Communicative method is used.Step3. Warming upDivide the class into groups of four to do the experimemts and discuss the questions.Have a discussion in groups and work with the following questions:What kind of paintings do you like?Describe one of your favorite paintings.Why do you like it best? Please give two reasons.Purpose:Develop the students abilities to co-operate and communicative methods are used. In this step, communicative and co-operative methods are used.Step4.Listening 1. Look at the information chart carefully.2. Play the tape twice to make sure they can catch the right information. .3. Check the students answers together and find out which students do best, give them praise in time. Purpose:Develop the student listening ability and master the basic listening steps.In this step,Task orientated teaching method is used.Step5. Speaking 1. Do Situation 1 as a model.2. Practice in pairs and use the role cards to ask for and give information, let the students pay attention to the useful expressions on Page 80 and try to use them;3. Ask a few pairs to perfom in front of the class; 4.Pick out the best pair and give them a clap.Purpose:Develop the student abilities to speak and communicate. In this step,situation, Communicative and co-operative methods are involved.Step6.Summary and homework1. Draw a painting at home and bring it to school to have a class painting exhibition.2.Do Workbook Page151 by talking after class.3.Preview the reading8.Blackboard design : Unit12Warming up Listening Speaking1.In ones opinion eg. in my opinion, he has done a very good job.Give/express ones opinion on/uponeg. he has give his opinion
