This partnership will allow us to promote two special events at the Columbia Museum of Art. The main event to be held is a black tie dinner offered to 100 of our most valuable contacts and their guests. The second event will be the unveiling of a selected piece of outdoor art, which will later be placed in downtown Columbia as a donation to the city. The purpose of this partnership is to establish BlueCross BlueShield as a good corporate neighbor and an active member of the community. The exhibition will work to highlight Columbias rich cultural life in order to show our appreciation for the city and as a way to generate awareness of our company. The black tie dinner will function as a way for us to reinforce our ties with prominent local connections. Finally, the unveiling of the outdoor art will serve as a way for us to attract media attention to our efforts. The donation of the art and its placement in a prominent location in downtown Columbia will serve as a tangible memory of BlueCross Blue Shields commitment to being a good and active member of the community, as well as an initial step in gaining the support of the mayor towards our new future growth as a company. Commitment: Sponsorship of “Glass and Class” exhibition.Events: Black Tie Dinner (Friday, Nov.4th, 2011) and Unveiling (Saturday, Nov.5th, 2011)Where:Columbia Museum of Art1515 Main StreetColumbia, SC 29201-2807(803) 799-2810The Artist & The ExhibitLino Tagliapietra is one of the worlds most highly respected glass artisits. Dale Chihuly, whose glass chandelier adorns the entryway of the Columbia Museum of Art, has called Tagliapietra perhaps the worlds greatest living glassblower. Lino Tagliapietras glass artwork can be seen in museums around the world. BlueCross BlueShield is excited to bring Lino Tagliapietras work to the South. BCBS chose Tagliapietras lively artwork in an effort to showcase this masters art. Chihulys exhibit and recent installment received such great reviews from Museum patrons that BCBS decided this was a wonderful opportunity to continue the education and appreciation for this age-old trade by presenting an exhibit from another world renowned artist. BCBS hopes that museum patrons in Charleston and Greenville also appreciate this traveling show. Information from /artists/show/tagliapietra-29 The Columbia Museum of Art seeks to inspire, educate and enrich the lives of the community, South Carolinians, tourists and visitors by collecting and preserving fine and decorative art from around the world, exhibiting highly regarded work from a broad range of cultures and providing dynamic educational and cultural programs.South Carolinas premier international art museum houses a world class collection of European and American fine and decorative art that spans centuries. In recent years, the Museums collection of Asian art and Antiquities has grown through generous gifts to the collection. Founded in 1950, the museum opened its new building on Main Street in 1998 by transforming an urban department store into a sleek and airy, light-filled space with 25 galleries. The collections include masterpieces of the Italian Renaissance and Baroque from the Samuel H. Kress Collection, works by significant furniture and silver makers, as well as modern and contemporary art from the present time. Of particular interest are Sandro Botticellis Nativity, Claude Monets The Seine at Giverny and art glass by Louis Comfort Tiffany. The Museum also offers changing exhibitions from renowned museums and educational programs that include group and public tours, lectures, films and concert series.BlueCross BlueShield has an established relationship with the museum, affording residents and visitors the opportunity to enjoy the museum and its galleries for free, every Sunday. BCBS is also a co-sponsor for the Teacher Resource Center inside the museum. First, we will ask each department (e.g., financial) in BlueCross BlueShield for a guest list. Some departments may want specific people to be invited for business purposes. We will begin constructing the final guest list by first listing those names that were repeated on numerous lists. The Public Relations list, a list of “important” Columbia residents, will be used to fill in the blanks.ArtistLino TagliapietraBlueCross BlueShieldCEO and Chairman Ed SellarsChairman of the Boards Executive Committee Joe SullivanPresident John AustinSenior Management Harry FreemanSenior Management Linda BarfieldSenior Management Keith WhiteGovernment:Governor Nikki HaleyLieutenant Governor Ken ArdSecretary of State Mark HammondState Treasurer Curtis LoftisAttorney General Alan WilsonMayor of Columbia Steve BenjaminUS Senator Lindsey GrahamUS Congressman Joe WilsonSC State Superintendent of Education Mike ZaisSC Supreme Court Chief Justice Jean Hoefer ToalSC Supreme Court Justice Costa M. There should be ample space for parking both on Main Street and in the parking lot adjacent to the art museum, but a Columbia Valet representative will scout the location two weeks prior to the dinner to develop a parking plan. Their valet team will also provide all parking-related details, including signage, attendants (who will be dressed in dress khakis and white collared shirts), tickets, and podiums. Approximately 10 attendants will be on duty to park the guests cars and will arrive at 5:30 p.m. to set up. These attendants will also be knowledgeable of local taxi companies, who will arrange pick-ups upon request. They have been instructed not to return car keys to intoxicated individuals and are adept at handling these kinds of situations. Inclement Weather PlanIn the event of inclement weather, which is always unpredictable, the parking attendants will be equipped with umbrellas and will escort guests to the entrance of the museum.Dcor Table dcor: White linen tablecloth with burlap overlay.Curtains will also be utilized for draping around pillars in museum to break up the room.Centerpieces: Wildflowers in copper pots Hydrangea, ladys mantle, wheat.
