Ive been to many conferences where my business fellows have told me how much they like my shoes.Just wearing them makes me feel more calm and content in the office. I recommend them to all of my coworkers, and I own a pair of each color.2These are the worst shoes I have ever worn! The leather came off after only one week, and everybody thought they were ugly. The bottoms of the shoes made everything slippery. My employer fired me because he hated them! From then on, I would only wear Brand X shoes!3These shoes do exactly what shoes are supposed to do. There isnt anything too special about them. In the morning, I put them on and go about my day. They look delightful enough, and they are quite durable (耐穿的). I will probably buy another pair.4These shoes are my favorite things. I met my bride while buying a pair of these shoes. She was a customer service employee at the store I bought them at, and after she sold me three pairs, I asked her for her phone number and we started dating. Soon after that, we were engaged. We are getting married this afternoon, and I couldnt be happier.21How many pairs of leather dress shoes does the first customer own?AOne. BTwo.CThere. DFour.答案:D细节理解题。根据第一位顾客的评价中的“I own a pair of each color”可知,每个颜色的这种鞋,这位顾客各有一双;再根据文章开头对鞋子颜色的介绍“Color: Black leather/Brown leather/Red leather/Natural leather”可知,这家鞋店的这种鞋共有四种颜色,所以这位顾客有四双这种鞋。故选D。22Which customer do you feel gives the most balanced and objective view?ACustomer 1. BCustomer 2.CCustomer 3. DCustomer 4.答案:C推理判断题。根据第三位顾客对所买鞋的评价中的“These shoes do exactly what shoes are supposed to do . they are quite durable(耐穿的)”可知,这位顾客认为这种鞋子实用、耐穿,既没有过分夸奖,也没有过度贬低,而是围绕鞋子给出了相对客观的评价。故选C。23Why does the fourth customer like the shoes?AHe got to know his bride while buying them.BThey make him feel more comfortable.CThey are made to last.DThey make him attractive.答案:A细节理解题。第四位顾客的评价中提到“I met my bride while buying a pair of these shoes.”,再结合其后的叙述可知,因为在这家鞋店买的这几双鞋的“牵线搭桥”,这位顾客认识了他的新娘,所以这位顾客很喜欢这些鞋。故选A。BWhen I was five or six years old, I remember watching TV and seeing other children suffer in other parts of the world. I would say to myself, “When I grow up, when I can get rich, I will save kids all over the world.”At 17, I started my career here in America, and by the age of 18, I started my first charity organization. I went on to team up with other organizations in the following years, and met, helped, and even lost some of the most beautiful souls, from sixyearold Jasmina Anema who passed away in 2010 from leukemia (白血病), and whose story inspired thousands to volunteer as donors, to my grandmother, who lost her battle with cancer in 2012, and her death is the very reason and the driving force behind the Clara Lionel Foundation (CLF). Were all human. And we all just want a chance: a chance at life, a chance in education, a chance at a future, really. And at CLF, our mission is to impact as many lives as possible, but it starts with just one.People make it seem too hard to do charity work. The truth is, you dont have to be rich to help others. You dont need to be famous. You dont even have to be collegeeducated. But it starts with your neighbor, the person right next to you, the person sitting next to you in class, the kid down the block in your neighborhood. You just do whatever you can to help in any way that you can. And today, I want to challenge each of you to make a commitment to help one person, one organization, one situation that touches your heart. My grandmother always used to say, “if youve got a dollar, theres plenty to share.”24What did the author want to do at a young age?AWatch TV. BGrow up quickly.CBecome wealthy. DHelp other children.答案:D细节理解题。根据第一段第二句“I would say to myself, When I grow up, when I can get rich, I will save kids all over the world.”并结合第一段内容可知,小时候在电视中看到受苦的孩子,作者想要在长大后帮助他们,故D项正确。25What directly caused the author to create and develop the CLF?AA sixyearold kids request.BHer grandmothers death of cancer.CMany volunteers inspiration.DOther organizations encouragement.答案:B细节理解题。根据第二段第二句中的“to my grandmother, who lost her battle with cancer in 2012, and her death is the very reason and the driving force behind the Clara Lionel Foundation (CLF)”可知,在2012年,祖母不敌癌症病魔而去世,这促使作者成立了克拉拉莱昂内尔基金会(CLF)。据此可知,是作者的祖母患癌症去世这件事促使了作者成立并发展了克拉拉莱昂内尔基金会(CLF),故B项正确。26What does the underlined word “one” in Paragraph 2 refer to?AA chance. BA task.CA life. DAn organization.答案:C指代判断题。根据第二段最后一句可知,在克拉拉莱昂内尔基金会中,我们的任务是尽可能影响更多的生命,但这个任务从影响一个人的生命开始。根据该句中的“as many lives as possible”,结合“but . just one”可知,画线词one指代“a life”,故C项正确。27What does the author suggest people do in the last paragraph?ADo little things to help those around them.BWork hard to get a college education.CChallenge their friends to offer help.DDo charity work whoever you are.答案:A推理判断题。根据第三段中的“But it starts with your neighbor, the person right next to you, the person sitting next to you in class, the kid down the block in your neighborhood.”可知,慈善帮助可以从帮助你的邻居开始,帮助现在在你身边的人开始,帮助上课时坐在你旁边的人开始,帮助你家附近街区上的小孩开始。据此可以判断,作者建议慈善从帮助身边的人做起,故A项正确。C If you want to become a fluent English speaker you should take some advice: There are four skills in learning English. They are reading, listening, speaking, and writing. The most important thing you must remember is that if you want to improve your speaking and writing skills you should first master the skills of reading and listening. Read as much as you can. But your reading must be active. It means that you must think about the meaning of the sentence, the meaning of the unfamiliar words, etc. There is no need for you to pay much attention to grammars or try to understand all the unfamiliar words you come_across,_but the fact that you see them for the first time and recognize them whenever you see them, for example in other passages or books, is enough. It would be better to prepare yourself a notebook so you can write down the important words or sentences in it. As for listening, there are two choices: besides reading, you can listen every day for about 30 minutes. You can only pay attention to your reading and become skillful at your reading, then you can catch up on your listening. Since you have lots of inputs in your mind, you can easily guess what the speaker is going to say. This never means that you should not practice listening. For listening you can listen to cartoons or some movies that are specially made for children. Their languages are easy. Or if you are good at listening you can listen to VOA or BBC programs every day. Again the thing to remember is being active in listening and preferably taking some notes. If you follow these pieces of advice, your speaking and writing will improve automatically, and you can be sure that with a little effort they will become perfect.28According to the author, which should you improve first among the four skills? AReading and listening. BReading and writing. CWriting and speaking. DSpeaking and listening.答案:A细节理解题。由第一段最后一句可知,作者认为要想提高说和写的能力,首先要掌握读和听的能力。29The underlined phrase “come across” in the second paragraph can probably be replaced by “_” Ameet by accident Bdiscover Cfind on purpose Dlook for答案:A词义猜测题。此处是告诉读者没有必要去理解遇到的所有不熟悉的单词,由此推知come across指“偶然遇到”。30The author seems to agree with the view that _. Aeveryone should listen to VOA or BBC programs every day Byou neednt practice listening if you keep on reading every day Cbeing good at reading is helpful in improving your listening Dyou should take notes of whatever you are hearing答案:C推理判断题。由第三段第二句可知,作者认为多阅读有助于提高听力水平。31The passage is mainly about how to _.Achoose suitable listening materialsBdeal with new words in readingCimprove your English as quickly as possibleDbecome fluent in speaking and writing English答案:D主旨大意题。文章第一句话便点明主题,接着用大量篇幅阐述了如何通过提高阅读和听力技能来促进说和写的技能,从而成为能用英语流利表达的人。D English is a language particularly rich in idioms (习语), which usually dont obey logical (逻辑的) and grammatical rules. Without idioms English would lose much of its variety and humor both in speech and writing. In the old days the written language (novels, poems, plays and the Bible) was the source on which idioms were based. This was the case up until World War . After the war new mediums (媒介,媒体) had appeared in Englishspeaking society, there was a channel for the American way of life and the popular culture of the US TV, movies and nowadays the interactive mediums have changed the English language more to the American English direction. How then does American English differ from British English in the use of idioms? There are no radical differences in actual use. The main differences are in the situations where idiomatic expressions are used. There have been many studies recently on this subject. American English adopts and creates new idioms at a much faster rate compared to British English. Also the idioms of AmE origin (起点) tend to spread faster and further. After it has first been established in the US, an American idiom may soon be found in other “variants (变体)” and dialects of English. Nowadays new British idioms tend to stay on the British Isles and are rarely encountered in the US. British idioms are in fact more familiar to other Europeans or to the people of the British Commonwealth than to Americans, even though the language is the same. The future of idiomatic expressions in the English language seems certain. They are more and more based on American English. This development will continue through new mediums like the Internet and interactive mediums. It is hard to say what this will do to idioms and what kind of new idioms are created. This will be an interesting development to follow, and by no means does it lessen the humor, variety and color of English language.32According to the first paragraph, we can infer that _. Aidioms usually arent created based on logical and grammatical rules Bidioms mainly come from the written language nowadays CAmerican English creates more new idioms than British English DBritish idioms are more important than American idioms答案:A推理判断题。根据首段第一句可知,习语是不遵循逻辑和语法规则的。由此可以推断出A项正确。33Where did idioms come from in ancient times?AThe written language.BNew mediums.CThe spoken language.DSpeakers creation.答案:A细节理解题。根据第二段第一句可知,书面语是习语的起源。故A项正确。34When a new idiom is created in America, it will soon _.Abe used all over the worldBbe laughed at by British peopleCbe also found using in EnglandDbe used only in the United States答案:C细节理解题。根据第三段的内容尤其是本段第七句可知,美国习语的传播速度非常快,很快就能以英语的变体或方言的形式传播开来,但并非就能迅速地应用于世界各地。故C项正确。35The future of idiomatic expressions in the E
