When I was young, my mother encouraged me to develop and keep friendship with boys in order to build strong relationships. But she told me not to risk a good friendship with a boy with the title of boyfriend. Its indeed a wise choice to stay friends with those of the opposite sex (异性). In my opinion, even though some high school relationships might continue after graduation, the probability of them lasting much longer is so slim (微小的) that there really is not a point to it. Firstly you have to think about such a questionwhether it is possible to hurt both of you, or even hurt both of your future husbands or wives. My second point is that you still can date (约会) if you hope marriage could possibly follow. Except this, there really is not any other reason for dating. Some students desire relationships for a chance to be romantic. While these are nice to have, there are many more important things at this point in our lives. The titles of boyfriend and girlfriend put too much stress (重点) on a relationship between high school students. Just staying as common friends may be the best choice for us. I strongly advise we should dealwithit in a proper way and follow our teachers advice if necessary.1The author writes this passage probably for _ to read. Ahigh school students Bschool teachers Cparents and teachers Dmarried couples答案:A细节理解题。文章第一段提到“While most high school students spend most of their time .”,再结合最后一段可知,文章的写作对象是high school students, 故A项符合题意。2Between sexes, the relationship of being good friends might be _ than that of being boy/girl friends. 文章第二段末句提到“the probability of them lasting much longer is so slim (微小的) that there really is not a point to it”,由此可知在高中发展男女朋友关系是不会长久的,即普通朋友关系比男女朋友关系能更持久、更稳固。3How does the writer like the idea of dating among the students? ADating is a nice chance for students to be romantic. BStudying is far more important than dating in school. CIn high school dating can surely lead to future marriage. DDating in high school is sure to hurt your future family. 文中倒数第二段末句提到“While these are nice to have, there are many more important things at this point in our lives.”,作者认为此时还有更重要的事情去做,比如学习。4The underlined word “it” in the last paragraph might refer to _.Athe title of boyfriend or girlfriend at schoolBadvice given by both teachers and parentsCthe pressure from school lessons and sportsDthe relationship between students of opposite sexes答案:D指代判断题。 (in) doing sth. B When going through major life changes, like changing careers, I would change the people with whom I spent the most time. Weve all gone through periods when the people in our lives have changedgraduation, moving to a new city, getting a new job, joining a new club, etc. I dont think I need to convince you just how much influence other people can have over your identity. If youve ever experienced a major switch in your people environment, then you know that you change as well. Most people dont make these choices consciously (有意识地), though. You might consciously decide to spend more time with a certain friend, or you may ask someone out on a date to begin a new relationship. But few people choose their existing friendships deliberately.Theres_no_“getting_rid_of_people”. People are always dropping into and out of each others lives. Associations grow into friendships, and friendships fadeinto associations. You dont get rid of anyone. The truth is that in order to make room for new people and new experiences, you may need to loosenup some of your existing connections. What about loyalty (忠诚)? Shouldnt you always be loyal to your friends? Once you have a close friend, even if his influence on you is slightly harmful, shouldnt you stickby him? Loyalty to a friend sometimes means having to let go. It means being loyal to his highest and best self as well. If someone is destroying his health by smoking, for example, you arent showing loyalty by smoking right along with him. True loyalty sometimes requires that you break damaging connections, get yourself back on solid ground, and then decide what you can really do to help your friend. It can take a lot of courage to tell someone, “Im sorry, but I cant have you in my life anymore.” But even though this might seem like a selfish act at times, its often the best thing for the other person too. If a relationship is holding you back in some way, understand that its also hurting the other person. For example, if you work for a violent boss, your acceptance of that situation is considered to be silent approval, encouraging your boss to continue to behave violently.5When experiencing major life changes, people may _.Ajoin a new social communityBinfluence their friends aroundCchoose their friendships purposelyDhave their people environment changed答案:D细节理解题。 6What does the underlined sentence in Paragraph 3 mean?AEveryone has at least one friend.BIt is unnecessary to make new friends.CFriendship still exists though there are fewer connections.DYou ought to treat your old and new friends equally. 7What is the authors opinion on the loyalty to friends?ANever betray your close friends whatever happens.BCorrect their mistakes while you guard their goodness.CStick by your friends even though they do harm to you.DBreak up with your friends immediately if they smoke. 8How should we behave when employed by a violent boss?AWe should accept what we are told to do.BWe should stay silent and be in favor of him.CWe should bravely disobey him if he is wrong.DWe should give our boss courage to continue. 根据最后一段最后一句“. your acceptance of that situation is considered to be silent approval, encouraging your boss to continue to behave violently.” 1deliberately adv. I am looking at an old friend of mine.
