Unit 3 The Million Pound Bank Note(建议用时:30分钟) 阅读理解A(2019南昌重点中学高三段考)Following Mo Yans Nobel Prize, the usually silent Chinese literary circle got warmed up again. A Shanghai writer named Jin Yucheng surprised nearly everyone by making his new novel full of the Shanghai dialect(方言).Published in 2012, the 350,000word Blossoms is a novel about the changes in Shanghai over 30 years, drawing clear images of the city through the stories of many common peopleThere is no main story like most novels, but every story in it could run independently. While Putonghua is the standard choice for Chinese literature today, Jins use of the Shanghai dialect appears both different and bold.“I have seen too many novels that look similar to each other. Chinese literature is getting monotonous both in language and form. I want to be special with my own language, ” Jin told the Global Times. In the novel, Jin makes a breakthrough by mainly using dialogues to unfold various plots and represent typical characters on a daily basis. He also abandons the use of some punctuation like quotation marks(引号), showing a return to the traditional Chinese huaben(话本) genre.Since its publication, the book has been widely recommended on Sina Weibo with many netizens rating the novel high for its unique use of the dialect and vivid description of life using plain speech.Jin said that he got the idea of writing the novel while chatting in an online forum where people use the Shanghai dialect. The praise he received from the netizens encouraged him to continue writing the random stories.“Id like to see more writers to follow my leadIt will enrich our literature and make it diverse,” he said.【解题导语】本文是一篇说明文,讲述了上海作家金宇澄的小说繁花。1What can we know from the first two paragraphs?AThe Chinese literary circle is always silent.BMo Yan was surprised at Jin Yuchengs new novel.CThe novel represents a modern lifestyle in Shanghai.DThe stories in the novel arent linked to each other.D解析:细节理解题。根据第二段第二句“There is no main story like most novels, but every story in it could run independently”可知, 繁花没有像大多数小说那样有一个主要故事, 但它的每一个故事都可以独立成篇。据此可知,这部小说中的故事并没有互相联系, 故D项正确。2What does the underlined word “monotonous” in Paragraph 3 mean?ALacking in variety.BShort of expectations.CWanting further improvement.DRequiring more consideration.A解析:词义猜测题。根据第三段第一句“I have seen too many novels that look similar to each other”可知, 金宇澄认为中国的很多小说看上去彼此相似; 再结合该段第三句中的“I want to be special with my own language”可知, 他想要用自己的语言让自己的小说有特色。据此可推知“Chinese literature is getting monotonous both in language and form”表示中国文学在语言和形式上正变得单调, 画线词与A项含义相近,故A项正确。B项意为“低于预期”, C项意为“要进一步改善”,D项意为“需要更多的考虑”, 都与文意不符。3How does Jin Yucheng make a breakthrough in his new novel?ABy inventing lots of typical characters.BBy creating a vivid background.CBy employing dialogues to develop plots and characters.DBy playing with beautiful words in Shanghai dialect.C解析:细节理解题。根据第四段第一句“In the novel, Jin makes a breakthrough by mainly using dialogues to unfold various plots and represent typical characters on a daily basis”可知, 金宇澄在小说中主要是通过使用对话来展开各种情节并描写日常生活中的典型人物来取得突破的, 故C项正确。4What encouraged Jin Yucheng to continue writing in dialect?AThe netizens posts.BThe netizens praise.CThe citizens comments.DOther writers encouragement.B解析:细节理解题。根据第六段第二句“The praise he received from the netizens encouraged him to continue writing the random stories”可知, 网民们的赞扬鼓励他继续用方言写小说, 故B项正确。B(2019石家庄重点高中高三摸底)If you ever visit an English village, make sure to look out for morris dancingUndoubtedly as one of the strangest of English culture, morris dancing is a form of folk dancing that dates back to the 15th century. If you ever get the opportunity, you really have to see it.Men and women wearing oldfashioned, tattered(破烂的) clothing dance in the street of towns and villages across the country during the holiday periods. Women wear long, frilly(有褶边的) skirts and men wear short trousers with bells attached to them. They dance to traditional folk music which is often played on traditional musical instruments. Some groups carry heavy black sticks with which they bash against each other while they danceOther groups wave handkerchiefs in the air whilst they perform. The dances are usually performed near a pub so that when its over, the dancers and audience can sing some traditional folk songs over a pint of beer. The festivities will often continue long into the night, by which point most people are too drunk to think about performing again.Morris dancing is a great English tradition but its facing a big crisisAs the years go by, fewer and fewer young people are joining morris dancing groups. The dancers are getting older and older and eventually, if nothing is done to change this trend, the tradition will die out within the next few decades. If youve ever had the fortune to see morris dancing, you may understand why teenagers arent rushing to sign up. Putting it bluntly(直言地), its not exactly the coolest thing for an 18yearold to be doing. Why dress up in bells and funny costumes when you could be going clubbing? Or playing sports? Or doing anything else? However, it would be a great shame to lose such a fun and energetic part of Englands history and culture. Its important to look after some traditions and customs especially when its something as harmless and happy as morris dancing. So heres a toast to the next generation of wouldbe morris dancers! Lets hope they dont leave it behind.【解题导语】本文是一篇说明文,介绍了一种传统的舞蹈以及这种舞蹈在今天面临的现状。5What is the article mainly about?AThe popularity of morris dancing in the UK.BThe origins of morris dancing in the UK.CDifferent attitudes toward morris dancing in the UK.DTraditions and development of morris dancing in the UK.D解析:主旨大意题。根据第一段中的“morris dancing is a form of folk dancing that dates back to the 15th century”可知, 莫里斯舞是一种民间舞蹈,可以追溯到15世纪, 并由此引出文章内容。下文对这种舞蹈进行了介绍, 所以选D。6What can we know about morris dancing?ADancers usually wear long dresses with bells attached.BPeople sing traditional folk music while they are dancing.CDancers perform with sticks or handkerchiefs in their hands.DPeople prefer to dance till nighttime near pubs and then stop to drink beers.C解析:细节理解题。根据第三段中的“Some groups carry heavy black sticks with which they bash against each other while they danceOther groups wave handkerchiefs in the air whilst they perform”可知, 有些团体举着黑色的棍子,在跳舞的时候互相拍打, 其他团体在表演的时候在空中挥动手帕,所以选C。7What is the present situation of morris dancing?AThere is a lack of professional dancers.BIt is losing appeal among young people.CIt is accused of lacking fun and variety.DIts traditions and customs have been forgotten.B解析:细节理解题。根据第四段中的“As the years go by, fewer and fewer young people are joining morris dancing groups”可知, 随着岁月的流逝,越来越少的年轻人加入莫里斯舞蹈团,所以选B。8What does the author think about morris dancing?AIt is a good way for people to stay healthy and positive.BIt is a cultural heritage that deserves more attention.CIt is too oldfashioned and needs to be improved.DIt is fun and vibrant and every teenager should learn to do it.B解析:推理判断题。根据最后一段中的“it would be a great shame to lose such a fun and energetic part of Englands history and cultureIts important to look after some traditions and customs especially when its something as harmless and happy as morris dancing”可知, 作者认为莫里斯舞是文化遗产, 值得被关注,故选B。 完形填空(2019合肥高三第二次质量检测)When we were kids, we didnt think of success or failure in the way we think nowAt that time we dived straight into 1 .In high school, I developed a preference for art 2 , I studied really hard about other things, 3 for a successful career in information science 4 everybody was supporting me in continuing on the “path of success”, I felt really 5 insideDeep down I knew, Im not this person everybody thinks I ammy heart was 6 for something more meaningfulI wanted to do 7 .My final year at college was also a 8 I didnt manage to 9 in time with my generationThen I tried animation, design, and even music 10 for a while, so different from the career that I was always 11 to doNeedless to say, such “creative” 12 brought me much satisfaction, but I was running out of moneyI was stuck in a 13 finding a job or finishing my degree, 14 I made good progress at neither of themI realized that just a strong 15 will not bring me across the riverI had to do the work with my own hands. One day, a former high school teacher met me on the streetHe was 16 to hear I, one of his top students, wasnt doing wellHe then 17 me to find my first job as a game developerAfter starting work, my life started to improve. 18 , I can see my goals and dreams have remarkably 19 over the yearsI often remind myself that although some dreams may 20 , you can always have your passion reborn again.【解题导语】本文是一篇夹叙夹议文。作者通过叙述自己在成长过程中的学习经历告诉我们:虽然有些梦想可能会消失,但通过努力你仍可以让你的激情再生。1AsafetyBadventuresCagreementDconflictsB解析:根据上文“When we were kids, we didnt think of success or failure in the way we think now”及下文中“我”的经历可知,那时“我们”直接投身于冒险(adventures)中。2AInsteadBOtherwiseCThusDHoweverD解析:根据空前的“In high school, I developed a preference for art”及空后的“I studied really hard about other things”可知, 前后之间形成转折关系。however“然而”符合语境。3AcompetingBcallingCaimingDaccountingC解析:根据空前的“I studied really hard about other things”可知, 此处是指“我”的目标(aiming)是在信息科学领域取得成功。 6AbeatingBbleedingCachingDansweringC解析:根据下文“I wanted to do _”可知, “我”的心渴望(aching)着更有意义的东西。7AscienceBartCsportsDbusinessB解析:根据上文“In high school, I developed a preference for art”及下文内容可知, 此处为原词复现,即“我”想去学习艺术(art)。8AsuccessBmessCreliefDpanicB解析:根据下文“I didnt manage to _ in time with my generation”可知, 此处表示“我”大学的最后一年也是一团糟(mess)。9AapplyBbalanceCgraduateDdropC解析:根据下文中的“finding a job or finishing my degree”可知, “我”没能及时和“我”同届的人一起毕业(graduate)。10ArandomlyBwiselyCsecretlyDsuddenlyA解析:根据下文“so different from the career that I was always _to do”可知, 此处为然后“我”试着学习动画制作、设计, 甚至随机(randomly)学习了一段时间的音乐,和“我”一直想要从
