Lesson Plan InterpretationGood morning, ladies and gentlemen. Its my great honor to interpret my lesson plan here today. The lesson plan I am going to interpret is Period1 of Unit10 Im going to be a basketball player from Go for it Grade 8A. Id like to explain how to teach and why to do so from the following aspects: the theoretical basis, analysis of the teaching material, teaching methods and studying ways, teaching procedure, and blackboard design.Part I: The theoretical basis First of all, Ill talk about my theoretical basis. According to the National English Curriculum, English teaching aims to advocate learner-centeredness. Therefore, classroom teaching should be a process that students as well as students and teachers communicate with each other and also a process that students acquire knowledge by themselves under the guidance of teachers. In addition, the reform of English Curriculum lays great emphasis on the development of the integrated language capability. So the teaching should take full use of real situations to arouse students interest in English study and to develop their abilities of communication and cooperation. Therefore, I will focus on students own practice and design some tasks which are based on real situations for them to consolidate the new knowledge. It can help them learn efficiently.Part II: Analysis of the teaching material Second, Id like to analyze the teaching material from three aspects: the status and the function, the key points and the difficulties, and teaching aims.1. Status and the functionThe status and the function come first. The topic of this unit is about future intentions. It mainly focuses on how to talk with others about future intentions. So the students will get in touch with some jobs and the simple future tense be going to. It will stimulate them to think over their future and make resolutions to struggle for their dreams. Thus, it is very important to learn this unit well. Besides, the students have learnt a part of words about jobs and the phrase want to be. Therefore, most of them can talk something about jobs. For this lesson, the students will learn some more new words about jobs and use the simple future tense be going to to talk about future intentions.2. Key points and difficulties Therefore, there are two main key points. The first are the key vocabulary and some new phrases. The second are the target language and how to use the target language proficiently. The difficult points are how to use the simple future tense be going to correctly and how to talk with others about future intentions. So in order to fulfill the learning task of this lesson, I make out the following objectives.3. Teaching objectivesa) Knowledge objectives The first are knowledge objectives. Students should master the key vocabulary including computer programmer, professional, engineer, pilot, computer science, grow up etc. Students should learn to use the target language given in the textbook correctly and have a full understanding of the grammar- the simple future tense be going to.b) Ability objectives The second are ability objectives. Students will talk about future intentions fluently. Besides, they can get the main information from others talks and retell their future intentions. They can also write short passages concerned with future intentions.c) Moral objectives The third are moral objectives. Few students have ever thought over their future. So I will draw their attention to their future plans so that they can set up their goals and make resolutions to struggle for their ideal future.Part III: Teaching methods and studying ways Now, Ill focus on the ways of teaching and learning. In the lesson, Ill adopt the Task-based Language Teaching, Communicative Approach and Situational Language Teaching as the main teaching approaches. Therefore, Ill give students some tasks and arrange five kinds of activities which will arouse their interest in learning, including a guessing game, brainstorming, listening practice, interviews, and group activities. Meanwhile, Ill guide students to get a better understanding of the target language through communication and practice based on real situations. Students will also have many chances to participate in classroom activities which will obviously improve their learning efficiency. Ill use tapes, a tape recorder, multimedia, slips of paper and a little box as my teaching aids.Part IV: Teaching procedure Here comes the most important part, that is, the teaching procedure. It includes eight steps.Step1: Warming up (6 mins) The first step is warming up. It will cost 6 minutes, including two activities. Activity1 is to play a guessing game in order to revise the names of jobs learnt before. Ill ask some students to act the jobs out and others try to guess them. This is the revision and also the activity for students to get mentally prepared for Unit10. Activity2 is consolidation. After the game, Ill show students some pictures and guide students to speak out the names of jobs learnt before in order to consolidate these words further.Step2: New words learning and drill (8 mins) Then is the second step: presentation. It will cost 8 minutes. In this step, I will show students some other pictures. In these pictures are some famous people the students are familiar with. Ill ask students two questions. They are who is he? /what does he do? And Ill guide them to guess the names of the jobs which havent been learnt before. Then Ill get them to master the new words and phrases by reading in various ways and finishing Task1 in 1a. With the step, students will manage to master the new words and phrases on their own, which impresses them more deeply and helps them get a better understanding of these new words and phrases.Step3: Brainstorming (5 mins) The third step is brainstorming. It will cost 5 minutes. In this part, Ill ask students to figure out more jobs in groups and write some of them on the blackboard. After that, Ill invite four students to answer the questions. The questions are what do you think is the most interesting job? / why? /what do you want to be? /why do you want to be.? The step is designed to arouse students thinking of their ideal jobs. It is also for them to get prepared for the learning of the target language in step4.Step4: Presentation (11 mins)The fourth step is presentation. It will cost 11 minutes. This part consists of two activities.Activity1 is to present the target language. First, Ill continue to ask two students a question What do you want to be when you grow up?” in which want to do has already been learnt and grow up is mentioned for the first time. And Ill explain grow up with the paraphrase and some gestures. After that, Ill present the target language What are you going to be when you grow up? and If you are going to be., how are you going to do that? and guide some students to answer them. The activity enables students to explore and master the target language by themselves. Activity2 is to consolidate the target language and the key vocabulary. After asking six students the questions, Ill show some pictures of Bill Gates and some other computer programmers and ask, Who is going to be a computer programmer? Hands up!” So Ill invite two students who raise their hands to use the target language and make dialogues with me. Then Ill present the exact dialogue on the PPT and guide students to read it. The other new words will also be consolidated in the same way. The activity aims to consolidate the target language as well as the key vocabulary and also to improve students speaking skill.Step5: Pair work (6 mins)The fifth step is pair work. It will cost 6 minutes. Since students have learnt the target language, it is time for them to practice. First, Ill show a group of pictures and invite a student to make a dialogue with me. It is aimed to give other students an example. Then Ill ask students to practice the target language in pairs according to the pictures. Later, Ill let some pairs to present their dialogues in the class.With the step, students can use the target language more correctly and more fluently. It also enables students to cooperate with others.Step6: Practice (6 minutes)The sixth step is practice. It will cost 6 minutes. During this part, Ill ask students to practice in groups of four. Every student should interview three other classmates in his or her group about their ideal jobs and take notes in the form I have shown on the PPT.NameWhat is he/she going to be when he/she grows up?How is he/she going to do that?After that, Ill show the students a sample report first so that they can make reports according to it. Then Ill ask some students to make their own reports in the class.The step aims to develop students communicative ability and also their abilities of using language.Step7: Summary (2 minutes)The seventh step is summary. It will cost 2 minutes. It is time for students to have a review of what we have learnt in this lesson. First, students are asked to review by themselves. Then Ill show my summary of language points on the PPT and lay emphasis on the simple future tense “be going to+ do”. It is aimed to consolidate what we have learnt in this lesson and help students to establish the structure of language points.Step8: Homework (1 min)The last step is to assign the homework. It will cost 1 minute. First, Ill ask students to write a short passage named “My Fu
