Teaching key points: Words: happy, sad, heavy, light, hot, cold, big, small, thin thick, bathroom, math, thumb, thanks. Sentences: Were happy! Theyre cold. Im big. Shes small.III. Teaching difficult points: The new sentences are difficult for students to learn. Teachers should pay more attention to them.IV. Teaching aids: Tape recorder, word cards, slide, real things, Gogo VCD. V. Teaching procedure: Step 1 Use “ Are you ?”to ask your partner questions. Step 2 Sing a chant Step 3 Getting ready: write the word mother on the board. T: Whats this word? (Ss: Its mother) T: Do you remember the sound? Todays sound is similar. Look at my mouth. It looks the same (Point to your mouth.) T: Lets practice the sound. Look at my mouth and repeat. (Model putting your tongue against your front. If necessary, have Ss place their fingers on their throats to distinguish and . Ss feel the vibration of the vocal cords; Ss dont feel it. Have Ss look at the pictures on the page. Say each word. T: Lets listen to the tape. Play the tape and have Ss point to each word. T: Lets listen again, and this time, repeat. Have Ss repeat after the tape. Help Ss if they have difficulty making the sound. Step 4 Chant Have Ss look at the pictures next to the lyrics. T: (point to the thin pizza.) Is it thin? (Ss: Yes, it is.) T: (Point to the thick books) Are they thin? (Ss: No, they arent. T: Lets listen to the chant. Play the tape once. T: Now, listen and point to the thin and thick pictures. Play the tape again and have Ss point to the thin objects when they hear the word thick. T: OK. Lets chant together. Play the tape and have Ss chant along. Step 5 Play an extension game Step 6 Finish the exercise of workbook Step 7 Check it together Step 8 Do some formative assessment activity Step 9 Conclusion Step 10 Homwork 1. Dictate the words of sounds and words. 2. Sing the song and the chant to your parents. 3. Put picture cards of happy, sad, heavy, light, hot, cold, big and small on the wall around the room.2. T: Look at the pictures, point to the picture I say.(With a big, happy smile) Im happy.3. Continue with other words and gestures.4. T: Listen and repeat. Point to each picture.Play the tape and have Ss repeat each word.5. Point to the happy picture.T: Is she happy?Ss: Yes, he is. Are you happy?Ss: Yes, I am.6. Hold up the book and point to other picture and have Ss say the words.7. Enable them to recite the words, then, check up.Play a guessing game. Invite four Ss to the front of the class and have them stand facing the blackboard. Ask them to make faces. In small groups Ss try to guess. She is happy/sad/hot. The group that guessed correctly es to the front to make the faces.DrillTurn to Page11, Play the tape, Enable the Ss listen to the tape and do the Excerise. T: Which picture is it? Is it B? Is it D? While the Ss are responding, gradually move your hand to picture C. Repeat the answers.Step 4 Presentation of Target Ask for several volunteers to e to the front of the room. Arrange them so that there is at least one boy standing alone, one girl standing alone and at least two Ss standing together. Handout picture Cards to the Ss and ask them to hold them up to the class. T: Hes (big).(Point to the boy standing alone.) Point to the other volunteers and ask Ss in the class to make sentences about them and the picture cards. Point to the picture and model the dialog. T: Listen and repeat. Play the tape, pausing after each sentence so Ss can repeat.Step 5 Do Activity 11.Draw a bingo grid on the board. Write Bingo in the center square. Write the vocabulary words in the eight remaining squares. Demonstrate how to play Bingo. Have Ss look at the pictures in this acitivity . T: Open your books. Write these words in the eight boxes. Every student will put the words in different boxes. Make a statement, eg. Theyre heavy and have Ss check off that word from their bingo grid in pencil. Continue until someone gets three words in a row and calls out Bingo.! After playing as a class, have Ss play in small groups. One student in each group can be the announcer. Have the announcers rotate regularly.2.Do Practice 2 Walk around the room asking Ss questions. Move around the room and ask questions quickly to keep Ss focused. T: Are you cold? Are you sad? Elicit responses and encourage Ss to ask you questions with units vocabulary words. Play the tape and have Ss answer. Encourage Ss to use plete sentences and express their real feeling.Ste
