摘要翻译是一个复杂的过程。翻译理论，尤其是涉及文学作品的翻译理论，一向是大家争论的焦点。本文通过分析关联理论在翻译研究中的应用，试图探索是否有可能、有必要建立单一的理论来解释翻译过程中出现的所有现象。关联理论是法国学者斯珀伯和英国学者威尔逊在1 9 8 6 年提出的涉及言语交际的一个认知语用学理论它将言语交际看作是明示一推理过程，从认知的角度分析言语交际过程中涉及的问题，提出交际的核心是寻找最佳关联进而推出交际者的信息意图和交际意图。该理论的提出对很多领域的研究都产生了极大的影响，妇语言学、文学、哲学、心理学等，尤其是翻译研究。格特成功地将关联理论引入了翻译研究，并在其书关联与翻译一认知与语境中提出了全新的关联翻译观。通过阅读大量文献及与关联理论在翻译研究中的应用相关的研究，本文作者发现人们对关联理论对翻译标准的解释力颇有争议。包括格特在内的一些人认为关联理论对翻译具有很强的解释力，可以解释翻译过程中出现的任何问题，但也有人提出反对观点，认为关联理论无法解决翻译中的很多问题，如文化缺省。甚至有人认为关联理论只关注翻译的认知方面而忽略了其他，因此根本不能应用于翻译过程本文针对这些不同观点，以红楼梦两个英译本的几个节选片断为语科，对关联理论在翻译过程中的应用进行分析。通过分析，本文俸者发现以往相关的研究对翻译理论研究具有一定的价值，但是均不同程度地显示出其片面性，因为他们只强调翻译过程中的某些方面而忽略了其他方面，进而得出结论：没有任何理论可以解释翻译这个复杂的过程，尤其是文学翻译所以，在翻译过程中，我们应该努力寻找最适合某个特定翻译场景的理论作为指导，以便更好地将原语作者的信息意图和交际意图传递给目标读者关键词：关联理论；交际；认知；文学翻译；关联；交际意图；信息意图i
