摘要 通感是感觉的混合，是同时发生的让人感觉到的多种感觉，是人 在受到一种刺激时产生的多种感觉上的反映。通感是原先修辞学界常 用的术语，以往的研究侧重于把通感作为一种修辞手段来进行研究。 l a k o f f 和j o h n s o n 的概念隐喻理论的问世，为人们研究其它修辞现象 提供了新思路和新方法。有不少学者从认知的角度对通感作过一些研 究，并取得一些成果，然而这些研究都还存在不够系统和深入的问题。 本文主要从认知的角度对英汉语中的通感现象进行了研究。从不同于 传统的修辞学的角度，尝试借助于概念隐喻理论对于隐喻的研究方 法，从认知的角度对通感进行研究。本文认为，通感和隐喻一样，不 仅是一个语言问题，也是一个思维问题。因此，人们对通感的理解也 遵循人类的一般认知规律。通感的应用和理解与人类文化有密切联 系，并且在社会生活各方面都有着广泛的应用。因此，对于通感的认 知研究不仅具有理论价值，还有重要的社会意义。 本文共分为四章。第一章概述了对强通感与弱通感( 即通感隐喻) 的多学科研究，讨论了强弱两种通感之间的关系，从而得出以下结论： 通感隐喻( 弱通感) 具有一定的神经和心理基础。 第二章介绍了l a k o f f 和j o h n s o n 的概念隐喻理论。该理论提出隐 喻不仅是语言修辞手段，而且还是人们认知世界的一种思维和行为方 式。它为通感现象的认知研究提供了方法上的指导。 第三章从认知的角度对通感进行研究，这是本文的重点所在。证 明了通感是一种特殊的认知现象，也是一种特殊的隐喻。论证的角度 有通感的本质、功能、认知基础、认知结构和认知规律。 最后一章结合实例，从认知的角度介绍和分析了通感在英汉语中 的应用，主要阐述了通感在广告、文学和教学等方面的应用特点。通 过研究，我们发现通感现象广泛存在于我们的社会生活之中，我们总 是在自觉或不自觉地应用着通感。 本文通过对通感的认知研究，揭示了通感的本质是人类的一种认 知现象，是一种特殊的隐喻，是人类理解周围世界和形成概念的工具。 通感的形成具有自己客观的生理基础和心理基础。通感在英汉语中的 使用大同小异，这是由通感的认知规律所决定的，它对我们的生产生 活具有重要作用。通感的研究不应仅局限于语言系统的语义特征，我
