东北师范大学硕 j 学位论文 c h i n e s ea b s t r a c t 摘要 威廉萨默塞特毛姆( 1 8 7 4 1 9 6 5 ) 是一位英国现代著名小说家和剧作家，他一 生创作了大量的长、短篇小说和剧本，以雅俗共赏的特点赢得了广大读者。作为一个 处于传统与现代交叉点上的作家，毛姆继承了英国小说的现实主义传统，又在时代风 气的熏陶中接受了自然主义的影响。 引言部分简单的介绍了毛姆的生平经历，同时分析了目前国内外毛姆小说的研究 现状。论文的第一章介绍了自然主义文学理论的确立及研究方法。概而言之，自然主 义文艺观的关键便是对文学的真实性、客观性和科学性的极度强调。 论文的第二章从三个方面论述了毛姆小说人性的枷锁中的自然主义特色。1 ) 菲利浦生理上的缺陷对他产生的影响。2 ) 人性的枷锁中表现了人之作为自然人的 情欲以及人的露骨的动物性本能。3 ) 人性的枷锁中有不少真实地表现了下层人民 的生活状况以及环境对人的影响，这也显示了这部小说的自然主义特色。 论文的第三章论述的是毛姆在小说人性的枷锁中客观冷静地审视生活，剖析 人生。毛姆在创作中力求保持客观的态度和科学的眼光，这与自然主义提倡主体态度 的客观性、情感的“零度介入”及原汁原味地描绘现实的主张是合拍的。 结论部分总结了人性的枷锁中明显的自然主义特色。但是，毛姆并未局限于
