习和使用过程中的普遍现象，在交际中起着非常重要的作用。任何语言中都有相当“部 分词语和表达方式是专门用来调节言语模糊程度的”，这些词语和表达方式就是最初研 究的“模糊限制语”。1 9 7 2 年，美国查德教授提出著名的模糊集合理论大大加深了人们 对模糊性的认识，拓宽的模糊限制语的研究范围，从而使模糊限制语的研究向系统化和 学科化的方向发展。作者结合国内外相关研究，对比中国英语学习者和英语本族语者的 模糊限制语的使用情况，运用语料库的研究方法，对模糊限制语的含义，分类及其语用 功能在语言学习中的应用作了深层次的探讨。 模糊限制语用来限制模糊词的模糊程度。任何用于表明说话人的态度，用于减少或 避免说话人的损失以及避免使说话人做出承诺的短语、语言工具和策略，统称为模糊限 制语。模糊限制语可用于表达学习者对事物的认知程度，表明学习者对话语的态度，因 此在英语学习中起着极其重要的作用。然而中国英语学习者在模糊限制语的使用方面存 在诸多问题，应引起特别关注并加以研究。 首先，本文简单介绍了国内外研究对模糊限制语的定义和分类。本文采纳了 p r i n c e b o s k f r a d e r 的分类方法，将模糊限制语分为两大类：变动型模糊限制 ( a p p r o x i m a t o r s 又称近似语) 和缓和型模糊限制语( s h i e l d s 又称遮掩语) 。变动型模糊限 制语又分为程度变动( a d a p t o r s ) 和范围变动( r o u n d e r s ) 型模糊限制语；缓和型模糊限制 语又分为直接缓和语( p l a u s i b i l i t ys h i e l d s ) 和间接缓和语( a t t r i b u t i o ns h i e l d s ) 。其次，本文通 过对比模糊限制语在英语本族语者与中国英语学习者中的使用情况，分析了中国英语学 习者模糊限制语的使用特点及导致其不当使用的因素。在本研究中，使用中国英语学 习者语料库和英国国家语料库( c l e c 与r a n g eb n c ) ，运用a n t c o n 3 2 和s p s s l 3 0 ，对两 库中模糊限制语的使用和频率及分布进行了统计分析。研究统计发现，中国英语学习者 与本族语者在使用模糊限制语存在很大不同。中国英语学习者在使用范围变动型模糊限 制语不足的同时又过量使用了程度变动型模糊限制语、直接缓和型模糊限制语和间接缓 和型模糊限制语。 i i i 导致中国英语学习者不得体使用模糊限制语的因素很可能和模糊限制语本身的复 杂性有关，外语教育者缺乏教授使用模糊限制语的意识，还和文化背景、思维方式和语 言使用习惯的差异以及母语迁移有一定关系。然后作者从语用的角度分析了模糊限制语 在英语学习中的语用功能，指出适当的使用模糊糊限制语可以使语言更加明确、更灵活， 而且更重要的是能使语言表达显得更有礼貌。 最后，作者总结了本文的研究并对模糊限制语在外语教学中的应用提出了一些建 议，在外语教学中恰当的运用一些模糊限制语不仅能提高外语教学水平和教学效率，而
