摘要 近几十年来，随着篇章语言学的兴起，国内外很多翻译理论者把 篇章语言学理论成果运用于翻译实践研究。篇章语言学和翻译学具有 某些共同的特质：二者都需要从高于词或句的层次上，也就是说从语 篇的角度来准确地描述语境。我们知道，句子是语法分析的最高语法 分析单位，却是话语分析或篇章语言学中组成语篇的基本单位。由于 篇章分析、篇章语言学、语义学和语用学的发展极大地丰富了翻译学 理论。翻译的单位已经从语句层面扩展到超句子即语篇层面。翻译的 标准也随之从逐字翻译提高到追求忠实于原文内容，语言和风格。翻 译的原则之一是忠实再现原文的所有信息。再现原文的衔接与连贯尤 显其重要。连贯是语篇分析中的最复杂，最重要的内容之一，连贯也 是结构衔接或语篇形式的表征体现。而形式衔接是实现语篇连贯的重 要手段之一。是连贯大厦的基石。 本文首先阐述了衔接理论的产生、发展和应用，并详细分析韩礼 德和哈桑在英语的衔接一书中的衔接理论，以及其他语言学家对 于衔接理论的观点和看法。韩礼德和哈桑合著的英语的衔接( 1 9 7 6 ) 一书一直以来都被看作衔接理论诞生的标志。衔接手段是研究语言的 使用及其功能方面的一个重要因素，在篇章理解和分析中举足轻重， 更是实现语篇语言简洁，逻辑连贯的重要手段。作为语篇分析巾语言 特征的核心，衔接以及连贯在语言学和翻译领域受剑高度关注。正如 韩礼德所定义的那样，衔接是指语篇巾语言成分之问的语义联系，即 一个成分与另一个可以与之相互解释的成分之间的联系。在翻译过程 中，我们必须全面理解原语中的衔接，然后根据日的语的语言特征适 当转换衔接手段，忠实再现原语的衔接于段。为此，翻译技巧的研究 就得从词语和句子层扩展到语篇层。 v 接着，本文系统提供了理论来源并定义了衔接手段的五种类型。 即指称，替代，省略，连接和词汇衔接。前三种归为语法衔接手段， 二原因在于他们本质上要么是形式要么是语义的，而运用他们所获得的 衔接关系本质上是有语法特征的。英语和汉语中的语法衔接手段既有 相似处但更多的是他们都有这各自的特征。翻译时，译者既要透彻理 解原语的衔接手段，同时根据目的语的特征做出调整。 最后文章从语法衔接手段，将衔接理论应用于美国著名作家海明 威的中篇小说老人与海中，采用例证法从老人与海中采集语 料，运用三种语法衔接手段进行语篇分析，以此来探求衔接手段的翻 译策略。就语法衔接手段而言，英语和汉语在他们的分类和衔接功能 方面有相似的地方，但却不是一一对等的。许多英语衔接手段在英汉 翻译中都必须适当调整，注意语篇衔接在翻译过程中是必不可少的， 译者应该懂得怎样转换衔接手段，敏感把握衔接方式的转换，为达到 译文的衔接连贯，译者的主要任务在于探究理解原语衔接方式，根据 目的语调整制定翻译转化方案。本文从中篇小说老人与海中选例， 分析英汉语篇衔接手段的异同，探究有效处理衔接手段的翻译策略， 并期待能澄清一些让译者迷惑的问题。 关键词：语篇：衔接手段；语法衔接：翻译 a b s t r a c t w i t ht e x t l i n g u i s t i c sd e v e l o p m e
