摘要 约翰麦斯威尔库切是南非当代最著名的白人作家之一， 他的作品对读者 有着强烈的吸引力，引起了越来越多的学术关注。作为一个有着极大良知的作家， 库切极为重视南非的社会状况和南非人民的生存状态。在他的作品中，展现出对人 性，历史和责任，文明和野蛮，身体和暴力的极大关注。对于库切本人的经历，他 的写作风格，他的语言特色和他的作品主题的研究，有很多的评论文章。通过对福 柯权力理论和后殖民理论相关概念的运用，本篇论文试图努力对库切作品中的处于 属下地位的小人物进行解读，去挖掘库切这位伟大作家的创作思想和内心世界。 本论文涉及五个方面。首先，第一部分介绍库切的生活经历和他的作品，以及 国内外对这位作家及其作品的研究现状。第二部分简要介绍本论文所使用的福柯的 权力理论以及后殖民理论，以及从种族隔离制度的实施到废除这段时间南非的社会 背景。第三部分的重点是运用福柯的权力相关理论对库切三部作品中小人物进行分 析以揭示权力是如何通过身体，知识和话语等方式产生作用的。掌握着权力的帝国， 通过对身体的摧残，通过知识和话语，不论是以法律规约还是书写历史等形式束缚 着社会底层的小人物。库切作品中的这些小人物，不论是有色人种，还是曾经高高 在上的白人都被权力牢牢地控制着并最终沦为了属下。第四章展现了对于沦为属下
