摘要 出于英语在我国是外语雨不是二语，英语学习缺乏自然的语言环 境，网此，课堂被认为是大多数学生学习英语的主要场所。但是，目前 我国大学非英语专业的基础英语教学( 即在非英语专业大学一、二年级 开展的大学英语教学，以下简称为大学英语教学) 课时量少，远不能满 足语言学习的需要。另外研究表明，非英语专业低年级学生在课外的 英语学习自主性普遍较低( 徐锦芬，2 0 0 4 ) 。可是目前大学英语教师仅 重视课堂教学，不太注重对学生在课外的英语学习的督导。这些成为许 多大学生课外英语学习效率低下，难以达到教学大纲的要求的重要因 素。束定芳教授( 2 0 0 4 ) 明确提出，在目前情况下大学英语课堂教学应 该为学生的课外自主学习般务；赵亮( 2 0 0 3 认为，不包括学生的课外 学习的大学英语教学模式不是完整的教学模式。据此，我们提出了这样 一个假设：通过在课外实施由教师指导与监控的协作性学习，可以创造 良好的英语学习氛围，提高课外英语学习效率，引导大学生成为自主的 英语学习者。 国内外学者( 如：李俏，2 0 0 3 ；南波，2 0 0 3 ：p a n i t z ，1 9 9 7 ：s h a r a n ， 1 9 9 0 ；) 对协作性学习的研究主要集中于课堂教学，至于如何对非英语 专业的低年级学生在课外实旖有教师指导与监控的协作性学习以促进 他们在课外的英语学习，提高英语学习质量。以及学生和教师在此过程 中扮演何种免色，这方酉匏研究目前还很缺乏。本文试图从v y g o t s k i n 的“最近发展区”理论，l i r u f f e e 的“基础与非基础知识”理论，m a s l o w 的“人类需求层次”理论以及语言的交际本质理论以及社会建构主义的 学习理论等和教学实践两个方面来探讨这个问题。 八周的教学实验一定范围内证实了在课外实施由教师指导与监控的 协、作性学习有利于促进学生课外英语学习的假设。而且，实验证明在课 外实施由教师组织的协作性学习与在课堂上的协作性学习有很大不同， 主要表现在两个方面：( 1 ) 协作性学习的范围。在课堂上，协作性学习 主要表现为即时性的小组活动。但在课外，胁作性学习包括小组成员相 互支持以实现小组共同目标的个人学习和定期的小组活动。( 2 ) 教师与 学生的角色。虽然在两种情况f 教师都是中介，学生都是积极的参与者。 但我们认为，就学习的全过程，即设计学习目标，制定学习计划，实施 学习计划和评估学习表现及效果这四个方面而言，在课堂上，学生是被 动的积极的学习全过程的参与者，在课外，学生是主动的积极的学习全 过程的参与者，对自己以及小组的其他成员的学习负责而教师在课堂 上依然是知识的传授者：但在课外，教师不再是知识的传授者，除了是 中介，还是管理全班各组的大组长( t h ep l e n a r yg r o u pl e a d e r ) 。总 之，在此过程中，学生的学习既独立于教师之外，又与教炳联系密切， 有助于形成小组自主，最终使学生从小组自主走向个人自主。 但由于受到实验范围和实验时问的限制，我们提出的“在大学英语 教学中在课外实施教师指导与监控的协作性学习”是否具有普遍的实践 意义还有待进一步的研究探讨：同时，课外的英语学习不应该也不能独 立于课堂教学之外。如何将大学英语课堂内外的英语学习有机结合起 来，也是一个有待解决的问题。但笔者认为本文为继续深入探讨如何促 进大学非英语专业的低年级学生在课外的英语学习，以建立完善的适合 社会发展要求的大学英语教学模式提供了一个新视角，具有较强的理论 和实践意义。
