c u l t u r es t u d y c o m p u m gd i c t i o n a r i e so f e n g l i s hi d i o m s 摘要 第二语言的学习往往是第二种文化的学习，尤其是当我们学习文化蕴含丰富 的习语时。本文于非母语英语学习者在学习英语习语时所遇的困难入手，讨论了 习语与文化各种方面的关系，并调查了主要的四本英语习语词典，发现并提出当 前的习语词典中存在的问题，并在最后提出了为英语习语词典提供文化信息的建 议。 本文导论部分首先陈述了习语和文化的特点定义，并因此而产生了目前非母 语英语学习者在学习英语习语时的困难，由此提出了本文文化研究的目的。接下 来，本文研究了习语，文化和语言的关系，为接下来的几章做好铺垫。第一章描 述了历史与习语的关系，本文着重陈述了英国历史与英语习语发展的关系。第二 至第五章分别详细阐述了习语与宗教，风俗习惯，文学及社会生活的关系。第六 章作者详细调查了四本主要英语习语词典中文化信息部分：朗文英语习语词 典，英语习语大词典，牛滓英语习语词典和剑桥国际英语成语词典。 通过调查得出了四种提供文化信息的方式。最后一章里，作者提出了现存英语习 语词典中存在四个主要问题，并就所存在的问题，联系非母语英语学习者的困难 提出了自己的几点看法及对习语词典编纂者的几点建议。
