摘要 习浯是人类语a 的精华。许多习语是经过长期使用、干锤百炼而造就出来的 语言形式，斛此具有语法结构独特、形象鲜明、文化内涵丰富、风格多样等特点。 英语和汉语都有漫长的历史发展过程，困此都拥有极丰富的习浯。他们是民 族风格的提炼与升华，并且具有强烈的文化特征一一各民族之间存在着诸如历 史、地域、宗教信仰、社会制度、习惯和习俗等众多的差异；而这些文化特征的 重要表现之一就是许多习语中包含着鲜明的形象，习语往往运用形象的联想来使 语a 变得更为生动有力。因此，习语翻译最毙 本现两种文化的不同，藤习语翻译 过程中文化差异的处理在很多情况下就是习语中所包含的形象的处理。 然而，习语研究大都着眼予英汉习语的对比、分类、翻译等等，鲜有以一特 定翻译理沦为基础研究习语翻译中的形象转换策略问题。本文就做了这个尝试： 以奈达的“对等理论”为基础，并综合考虑各种可能影哟翻译过程的因素柬探讨 习语翻译中的形象转换问题。 奈达“对等理论”的重要概念主要包括“形式对等”和“动态对等”( 后修 订为“功能对等”) ，其理论主体正是“功能对等”，简单的说，即达到与原文“最 切近的自然刘等”。但是，他的“功能对等”并不甭认形式的重要性。在奈达的 著作中，他多次指出原文形式不了可随意改变，牺氍了形式，电就牺牲了意义。 “如果一种或多或少的字露上的对应在所指意义和联想意义 ：均系功能对等，那 么，最面易见，就币必再做形式上的调整”( n i d a ，2 0 0 1 ：9 2 ) 。这表明在实际 翻译过程中，形式对等翻译有叫也能达到与功能对等相同的目标。关于如何处理 习语中的形式( 或文化因素) 问题，奈达“对等理论”给r 我们诸多启遮：泽文 的最理想模式应该是与原文在功能和形式上都达到对等；当功能和形式产生矛盾 时，功能意义优先于形式意义。 习语翻译过程中文化差异的处理在很多情况下就是习语中所包含的形象的 处理，冈为形象体现了习语的形式。习语翻译必须首先实现意义的转换，因为语 义的整体性是习语的基本特征之一，而且，正如奈达( 1 9 6 9 ) 所说，“l 瞰目在翻 泽的定义中所指明的那样，意义是首要的”：同时，要注意习语形象的功能对等。 冈此，列语翻译首先要保证原文隐含意义的准确传达，达到最佳的功能对等，其 次要尽t 巧能保良原文形象。总的浣来，习语翻译的原则应是功能对等和形象保留。 在将英汉习浯分为无差异和有差异两种情况的基础上，作者将英汉习语翻译 策略总结为三类：保留形缘、转换形象和舍弃形象。采取何种策略首先取决f 习 语黼译的原则，& p 功能对等和形象保留；还要认真考虑其它可能影嘲这一翻译过
