摘要 摘要 写作作为最基本的交流工具之一，是英语学习者必须掌握的一项基本技 能，也是师生公认的最难掌握的一门技能。即便是已经学习了七、八年的英语， 要写出连贯的文章也非易事。 传统的写作教学把侧重点放在了句子层面上。在修改学生作文时，教师的 主要任务也是帮学生修改语法错误。这种反馈给学生的信息便是：作文是由句 子组成的，只要每个句子内无语法错误，那么由无语法错误的句子组成的文章 就是好文章。而学生作文中语篇层次上的问题却很少受到关注，教师也很少讲 解如何通过使用衔接手段，特别是词汇手段来把上下文联系起来，从而建立篇 章的连贯性。 篇章的连贯性在很大程度上得宜于衔接手段的恰当使用。衔接指的是语篇 中语言成分之问的语义联系，或者说是语篇中一个成分与另一个可以与之相互 解释的成分之间的关系。关于衔接，目前论述最详尽的就是h a l l i d a y 在英语 的衔接中的衔接模式。h a l l i d a y 把衔接分为语法衔接和词汇衔接，语法衔接 有四种：照应，省略，替代和连接：词汇衔接分为重复，同义，上下义和搭配 等。本文研究的中心是词汇衔接。篇章中跨越小句或句子的两个或多个词项之 间有意义联系时就产生了词汇衔接。词汇衔接是构成衔接的最高级方式，在生 产篇章时也是最难掌握的一种。h o e y 也曾说词汇衔接是衔接中最突出最重要的 形式。 本文拟从词汇衔接的角度探讨如何提高大学生英语写作水平。通过对三组 不同水平的英语语篇即范文、优秀学生作文和普通学生作文进行分析和描述， 剖析了这三组语篇在词汇衔接手段使用上的差异及其原因。全文共分五章。第 一章阐述了本研究的背景，回顾了以往的相关研究，确定了研究目的并指出了 研究意义。第二章阐述了写作及大学英语写作的特征。第三章系统论述了与词 汇衔接相关的理论并在h a l l i d a y 的词汇衔接模式的基础上进一步提出了适合本 研究分析的词汇衔接手段的分类。第四章对三种样本中使用的词汇衔接手段进 l e x i c a lc o h e s i o na n dc o l l e g ee n g l i s hw r i t i n g q u a l i t y 行了对比分析。第五章总结了本研究的主要结论，同时指出了它的局限性，并 为进一步研究提出了建议。
