摘要 w h 奥登是二十世纪最伟大的英语诗人。但是，目前国内对于奥登诗歌的翻 译和研究却少之又少。国外奥登研究始于二十世纪三十年代。一方面，研究的领域在 不断扩大；另一方面，在奥登的诗歌风格和思想定位上的争议却一直没有解决，且愈 演愈烈。由于他的创作跨越两个大洲，期间涉及的信仰不只一个，因此，他的诗歌在 风格特征和思想主题上时常发生变化。他的诗歌属于英国还是美国? 理论基础是弗洛 伊德理论，马克思主义，还是基督教思想? 似乎每一种新的风格特征都在质疑评论家 们过去所做的论断。鉴于此，本文旨在重新划分奥登创作时期的基础上，研究奥登各 时期的诗歌风格特征及其诗风转变与思想转变之间的关系。 论文引言部分概括介绍了奥登的写作生涯和国内外奥登研究的现状。其中，重点 将放在介绍评论界关于奥登思想变化的不同看法，并由此导致的对其诗歌艺术价值的 争议。论文总结了主要评论家对于奥登诗歌创作时期的不同划分方法，并根据他的思 想变化重新划分了他的诗歌创作时期。论文对奥登诗风的研究根本上来说是文体学研 究。因为现代西方文体学是从语言学角度研究文学作品的，所以其主要研究对象是一 部作品音位的特征、词语的运用、句法的规范性和布局谋篇的手段。本论文认为这些 语言学方面的特征加起来只能构成一位作家的语言风格。为了更好地体现奥登诗风与 思想间的联系，论文将在引言中综合中西文体学两方面的研究理论，引入表现风格的 概念，把意象和作者的口吻也归入文体学的研究范畴。 论文第一章主要分析了1 9 2 8 1 9 3 2 年间奥登诗歌的风格特征及其与心理分析理论 之间的联系。这一时期，奥登诗歌风格的特征主要是隐晦和疏离。尽管奥登不满于当 时英国社会的腐败和堕落，但是作为资产阶级的一份子，他自己也深陷其中，不能自 拔。因此，他只能寄托于诗歌创作，以隐晦的方式来剖析和诊断社会现状，舒缓心里 心理上本我与超我间的矛盾给自我带来的压力和忧虑。 论文第二章主要分析了1 9 3 3 1 9 3 9 年问奥登诗歌的风格特征及其与马克思主义和 社会民主主义思想间的联系。这一时期，奥登的诗歌风格较平易，强调秩序，疏离的 程度也有所降低。这种变化的起因是当时严峻的社会局势。大战在即，奥登曾对马克 思主义寄予厚望，并有意响应它的号召，把诗歌变成宣传武器。为了使人们更了解社 会现状，他有意使用比较通俗易懂的语言，使他的诗歌更加贴近读者大众。但是，前 苏联的大清洗运动最终使他认定马克思主义所承诺的未来并不如乌托邦般美好。而 且，英法两国所推行的绥靖政策最终导致了西班牙内战的失败和捷克斯洛伐克的陷 落，这使奥登意识到他企图改良现存社会的希望也破灭了。面对即将到来的战争，奥 登别无出路，只有绝望的离去。所以，他三十年代末期的诗歌大都带有消极绝望的情 绪。 论文第三章主要分析了1 9 3 9 - 1 9 4 1 年间奥登诗歌的风格特征及其与存在主义基督 教思想之间的联系。这一时期，奥登诗歌风格上最显著的特征就是抽象。存在主义基 督教学家克尔凯郭尔把人的存在分为三个层次的理论直接导致了奥登在诗歌创作中 的又一次转折。而奥登在形而上学，哲学，神学等方面的大量阅读使他越来越醉心于 对抽象事物和概念的关注与探索。经过这一决定性的转折时期后，思想上的皈依使奥 登可以更加专注于诗歌风格的创新与完善，最终达到了抽象与朴实的和谐统一。 本论文在结论中一方面总结了奥登的诗歌风格确实是随着他的思想变化而变化 的：另一方谣进一步深入剖析了在几次变化背后一直坚持不变的是奥登对人类生存现
