语言内及两个方向( e c c e ) 的跨语言句法启动 效应的大小起决定性的作用：进一步证明了句法启动不具有语言特异性而是反映了 语言加工的隐性的、内在的机制：同时证实了第二语言的通达效率受语言水平的影 响，熟练双语者随着第二语言认知加工的“自动化”水平的提高，其启动效应趋向 于母语学习者。与先前的跨语言词汇、翻译的实验结果相似，本研究还发现了非对 面上人们都倾向于重复使用先前看过、听过、读过或写过的内容。然而，基于观察 得到的数据并不能真正揭示这一现象与人类语言产生机制的内在联系。“句法启动” 实验的应用为我们研究人类句法表征及语言加工进程的某些内在机制提供了一个窗 口。该实验方法由b o c k 于1 9 8 6 年首次使用，认为启动效应的产生是由于语言加工 过程中特定的句法结构处于激活状态而提高了重复使用该句法结构的选择频率。之 后研究者做了大量的母语句法启动的研究，进一步表明了句法表征是独立于词汇、 概念的表征系统：效应的产生体现了人们对语法结构的抽象化认知。然而文献并没 有报道该实验方法应用于外语学习者；迄今为止，该实验方法也没有使用于对汉语 句法的研究。由于第一语言与第二语言在语义、概念、句法通达速度上的差异性， 我们并不清楚外语句法启动实验是否将得到与母语一致的结果。 论文的第一部分回顾了相关的文献研究。我们先回顾了语料库对于人们日常生 活中旬法结构一致性的观察性研究，指出句法启动实验方法的应用能够更加科学地 揭示句法表征的内在机制。该实验方法是基于人类语言句型结构的灵活性的现实上： 即同一个概念可以由两种不同的句型来表达。实验的目的是为了考察在实验控制下， 被试在描绘一张概念、内容以至词汇毫无关联的图片时是否重复使用了主试使用过 的句型结构。接着介绍了国外句法启动实验的范式及实验方法：包括b o c k 的研究范 式，p o t t e r l o m b a r d i 的句法重构假设，p i c h e r i n g b r a n i g a n 的词汇层理论等。虽 然各家的理论解释很不一致，但所有的实验都获得启动效应，并证明了句法启动反 映的是语言表征问题，词汇、语音或交际策略等不足以解释这一现象。事件相关电 位和脑成像研究表明句法加工能诱发不同于语义加工的皮层电位，而语言加工过程 的模块化理论也支持了句法表征的独立性。接着我们进一步介绍了双语语义共同表 征的相关理论，为跨语言句法启动的假设提供了一定的理论支持。相关理论表明外 语学习者通达第二语言的速度以及语句加工的效率受外语学习者语言水平高低的影 响。因此我们确定了本研究的基本假设：汉语也能引起启动效应，而英语的启动效 应将因学习者水平的提高而起动态变化；跨语言句法启动将为我们进一步揭示双语 者( 混合双语者) 句法表征系统的内在机制。 第二部分详细描述了实验过程，包括：被试的选择，材料的设计、数据的分析 福建师范大学严春容硕士学位论文 等。实验分两大块：语言内( 中一中，英一英) 和跨语言( 中一英，英一中) 句法启动。 被试共1 6 0 名，8 0 名来自福建师大外语学院英语教育专业四年级学生；另8 0 名来 自福建电大英语专业二年级学生：每2 0 名接受一种的实验条件( 中一中，英一英，中 一英，英一中) 。前者为高水平者，后者为低水平者。对两组被试均未进行性别上的控 制。实验材料为4 0 张的素描图片，2 0 张作为启动句型用，2 0 张作为目标句用。共 设计了两类句型四种结构( 主被动句和双宾介宾结构) 。因此实验为4 个单因素两水 平的被试内设计。主试描绘一张图片后，被试重复该旬，然后要求被试用一句话描 绘接下来的一张图片上所画的内容。每个被试单独进行实验，主试记录被试产出句 子的句型结构。 第三部分针对实验结果进行讨论分析。我们发现：一、汉语具有句法启动效应； 说明启动不具有语言特异性，不与具体的语言相关，而与人脑的内在的句法表征相 关。二、外语水平的高低对英一英( e e ) 语言内及两个方向( e c c e ) 的跨语言句法启动 效应的大小起决定性的作用；证实了第二语言的通达效率受语言水平的影响，熟练 双语者随着第二语言认知加工的“自动化”水平的提高，其启动效应将趋向于母语 学习者。三、发现了非对称的跨语言启动效应。首先，在中一英实验中，二年级被试 只在主被动结构类型上有启动效应：而在英一中实验中，四年级只在与格结构类型上 有效应。这种因启动语言方向的不同而引起的句法类型之间的非对称启动效应，我 们认为是由于启动语言的句法标志的显著性引起的。其次，第一语言启动第二语言 的效应大于第二语言启动第一语言的效应( l 1 一l 2 l 2 一l 1 ) ，这与先前研究者所做的 词汇、语义层面的跨语言启动结果一致。由于启动与目标之间没有任何直接的词汇 联系，我们认为“词汇中介”的理论不能说明跨语言句法启动效应，而倾向于“概 念中介”的理论。四、本实验还有一个颇有趣的发现。不论是熟练还是非熟练双语
