哈尔滨i ：程大学硕士学位论文 摘要 几个世纪以来，翻译标准问题一直是翻译研究中的难题之一。许多翻译 界巨匠提出了种种不同的翻译标准理论，其中不乏精辟之见。在中国，严复 一直被公认为翻译标准说的首倡者。他的“信达雅”翻译标准理论为其后来 者进一步广泛而深入地讨论和研究这一命题打下了坚实的基础 在本文中，作者着重强调“忠实”，即“信”字作为翻译标准对于文学作 品翻译重要性，并试图从两个不同的角度阐释“忠实”的内涵，即：原文意 义的忠实重现及原文文化信息的忠实传递。作者将从中国古典名著红楼梦 中选取一些典型范例并对照杨宪益，戴乃迭夫妇合译的英文版红楼梦 口d r e a m o f r e d m a n s i o n s ) 来分析杨译本在忠实地再现原文的意义和文化两方 面的得与失，并最终归纳出“忠实”作为翻译的首要标准在文学作品的翻译
