亟堂僮诠窒 语言交际中模糊限制语的研究 学科专业：英语语言文学 指导教师：陈治安教授 内容摘要 研究方向：现代英语及语言学 研究生：芦俊燕 模糊现象客观地、广泛地存在于人类生活的方方面面。因此，在人类语言中， 同样存在着许多词语，它们所表达的概念是没有明确外延的概念，即所谓的“模糊 概念”。人们对模糊现象的关注与研究已有很长历史了，但是对模糊语苦进行专门 的研究却是最近二三十年的事。模糊语言学，作为一门新兴学科，丌始只是一门研 究语义的学科，主要关照对象是作为概念的语言范畴，属于语义学的一个分支 ( q u a n t i t a t i v ef u z z ys e m a n t i c s ) ，其理论基础是美国加州大学控制论专家查德( l a z a d e h ) 的“模糊集”( f u z z ys e t s ) 理论。但是，人们发现，由于模糊语言。在台语交 际中大量地频繁地使用，对于这一方面的研究就显得很有必要。语言的研究只有在 交际中进行也才使其成为活的语言。并且，词汇的意义只有放在交际中去探讨才会 显得更加丰富多彩，也更加准确。 本文旨在通过对言语交际中的“模糊限制语”的分析，重点探讨以下几个问题： 模糊限制语的使用能够帮助人们更好地进行交际；f 确地使用模糊限制语能使人们 的语言更加得体、礼貌；英语中有哪几种词语可以用作模糊限制语；这些模糊限制 语有哪些语义语用释义。全文分为五章。 第一章是本文的导入篇。首先介绍模糊现象和模糊语言学的研究背景与研究现 状；接着指出了模糊限制语是模糊语言学的一部分，模糊限制语在交际中的大量使 用及其对人们言语交际的影响。不能单纯地用好和坏来总结模糊限制语的作用，关 键在于能否正确使用。 第二章简要介绍模糊限制语的研究状况。查德的模糊理论( f u z z ys e t s ) 是模糊 语言研究的理论基础。因此，本章首先对其进行了介绍。查德用其模糊理论对模糊 限制语进行的计算给以阐述。他在这一方面的研究仅限于模糊理论方面的数值分 析，而对于模糊限制语的语义和语用解释较少涉及。本章的第二部分介绍拉克夫对 内容摘要 v 模糊限制语的研究。拉克夫是第一个研究模糊限制语语义的语言学家。他运用查德 的模糊理论对部分模糊限制语进行语义分析，指出语义界限有一定的模糊性。模糊 限制词( h e d g e s ) 问题是最有研究价值的，限制词不但可以改变真值程度，还可以 揭示出意义的其它方面。拉克夫的结论是在自然语言中，真值是在一定程度上的真 值，而不是绝对真值。他并指出，模糊限制语的某些意义是在字典里查不到的，只 有把它放在具体的语言环境当中才能准确地判断其意义，语义学不能独立于语用 学，这一方面的问题很值得深入广泛地研究。第j 部分介绍了中国第一个把模糊理 论引进来并进行了广泛研究的伍铁平教授。伍先生对限制语的研究是从语法角度给 予分类，并比较注重对单个词意义的研究。模糊限制语在吉语交际中的大量使用说 明从语义和语用方面进行进一步的研究是很必要的。 第三章从语义学角度分析了模糊限制语的分类及其在言语交际中的功能。英语 和汉语两种语言中都有许多词、词组和句型可用作模糊限制语。本论文涉及的只是 由副词和介词短语充当的模糊限制语。因为这二者是模糊限制语的主要构成者。从 语法角度来看，一些限制语修饰的是整个句子，它们属于句子限制语；另外些则 只修饰句中的某个成份，它们属于成份限制语。不论是句子限制语还是成份限制语 都有自己的语义功能释义。句子限制语可从三个方面释义：( 1 ) 评论性表示说 话人对自己所说话语的态度；( 2 ) 观点性说明所叙述的事情是从某个角度出发 的：( 3 ) 礼貌性由英语中很少的几个词，比如：k i n d l y , g r a c i o u s l y ，p l e a s e 构成， 表示比较正式的礼貌用语。 成份限制语要复杂一些，可以从三个大的方面来释义：( 1 ) 加强性。指对句子 的语气进行增强或减弱。在表示语气增强时，又可以进一步解释为：最大限度增强 性，和一般增强性；在表示语气减弱时，又可以进一步解释为：接近性、妥协性、 削弱性和最低限度性；( 2 ) 焦点性。又可进一步解释为限制性( 包括排除性和关注 性) ，以及附加性；( 3 ) 强调性。指对其所修饰的句子或句子成份的真值程度起强 调的作用。本文对于这些限制语的分析从三方面着手：( 1 ) 语义解释；( 2 ) 可与哪 些词一起运用；( 3 ) 在句中应放在什么位置。 第四章运用语用原则中的“合作原则”、“礼貌原则”和“面子威胁”理论对模 糊限制语在语言交际中的使用进行具体的语用分析。根据格赖斯的“合作原则”， 为了保证交际顺利进行，交际双方需要彼此合作，遵循一定的准则( 数量准则，质 量准则，关系准则，方式准则) 。同时，由于交际目的的需要，说话者有时会使用 一些模糊限制语，它们的使用有时遵循合作原则中的某一准则而违背另一准则。论 文举例分析说明了模糊限制语在四个准则方面是如何使用以达到交际目的的。影响 人们使用模糊限制语的另一个重要因素是“礼貌原则”，因为“礼貌原则”有助于 v i a n a l y s e so f h e d g e s 加l i n g u i s t i cc o m m u n i c a t i o n 解释为什么人们在交际中喜欢用模糊限制语来间接表达会话意图，而“合作原则” 不能清楚地说明这一问题。因此，需用“礼貌原则”来补救它的不足，作为对它的 必要补充。论文从“礼貌原则”的六个准则( 得体准则，慷慨准则，赞誉准则，谦 逊准则，一致准则和同情准则) 方面对模糊限制语的使用进行了进一步的分析说明。 第五章是对全文的总结。首先指出本文研究的重点：第一是模糊限制语在交际 中的大量使用为模糊限制语的研究提供了必要的前提。第二是模糊限制语与交际原 则的关系及其在交际中的表现形式及意义分析。其次提出模糊限制语值得进一步研 究的方面：第一是交际方面模糊限制语的研究仍有待进一步的深入，比如，在不同 的交际领域，包括医生用语、律师用语、科技写作等方面，虽然通常被人们认为是 需要使用十分精确的语言的场合，但模糊语的使用仍十分普遍；另一方面是跨文化
