摘要 詹姆斯乔伊斯是2 0 世纪举世公认的文坛巨匠，他一生致力于追求小说的改革与创 新，其四部主要作品几乎涵盖了2 0 世纪所有的小说艺术：从现实主义的都柏林人( 以 下简称都) ，到现代主义的一个青年艺术家的肖像和尤利西斯，最后到后现代 丰义的芬尼根的苏醒。鉴于乔伊斯作品具有很强的试验性与革新性，笔者在研究都 美学时，试图还原乔伊斯在创作都时的历史氛围、社会背景和文化思潮，推本溯源， 以期准确揭示乔伊斯在初期试验创作的美学思想及形成，并分析其在都中所体现的 美学效果。 论文第二部分首先从乔伊斯民族意识的产生、对宗教信仰的叛离和宗教文化的借鉴 和摒弃以及与家庭的决裂三个方面论述其个性思想意识的形成及其对美学思想的影响， 然后分析了乔伊斯对易h 生、亚理斯多德和阿奎纳等大师美学思想的批评吸收，从而形 成别具特色的美学原则。一方面，他具有强烈民族忧患意识，坚持认为文学应当具有一 定的社会功效，从而以文学为利器接过前人尚未完成的民族大业，铸造民族良心，通过 昭示都柏林人精神瘫痪，书写了民族“道德史的一章”：另一方面，他又反对文学以说教 为目的，主张作家的“非个人化”，这使得他最终倾向了“完整、和谐和发光”的美学原 则。在此基础上，通过对乔伊斯的日记和论文的梳理，揭示了他创作都时美学思想 的形成，并对其进行了详细的阐释。 论文的第三部分重点探讨了“完整”和“和谐”这两个美学要素在都的框架结 构和主题意蕴方面的集中体现。都已不再是由传统的自然主义风格的1 5 篇相互独立 的短篇故事组成的故事集。在都中，乔伊斯似乎把都柏林人看作一个人，从童年、 青年、成年及社会生活四个方面，以琐碎的真实日常生活和自己的亲身经历为素材，向 世人展示了都柏林人的全面瘫痪。作品不仅结构和内容完整、统一，而且“经济节约”， 这使得作品既无与主题无关的情节，叙述结束后又不会留下交代不清的事件。同时，各 个短篇之间和短篇与整个故事集之间具有“节奏”性的结构关系，而且具有多层、相互 交错的主题，形成一个“和谐”的整体，极大地丰富了作品的艺术价值。 论文第四部分分析了审美的最高阶段“发光”，揭示了“顿悟”与“发光”的密切关 系。论文作者区分了作者原始的、文本的、美学的三种不同顿悟，发现只有美学的顿悟
