Thats wrong. Language is for the exchange(交流)of ideas and information. Its meaningless knowing all about a language if you cant use it freely. Many students I have met know hundreds of grammar rules, but they cant speak correctly or fluently. They are afraid of making mistakes. One shouldnt be afraid of making mistakes when speaking a foreign language. Native speakers make mistakes and break rules, too. Bernard Shaw once wrote,“Foreigners often speak English too correctly.” But the mistakes that native speakers make are different from those that Chinese students make. Theyre English mistakes in the English language. And if enough native speakers break a rule,it is no longer a rule. What used to be wrong, becomes right. People not only make history, they make language. But a people can only make its own language. It cant make another peoples language. So Chinese students of English should pay attention to grammar, but they shouldnt overdo(做过头)it. They should put communication(交际)first.31Language is used to_.Aexpress oneselfB. practise grammar rulesCtalk with foreigners onlyDlearn lists of words32Generally,when an American or an Englishman speaks English,he or she_.Anever makes mistakesBoften makes mistakesCcant avoid making mistakesDalways makes mistakes33The sentence“Foreigners often speak English too correctly.”means that_.Aforeigners speak correct EnglishBforeigners speak incorrect EnglishCforeigners speak English according to the grammar rulesDforeigners never make mistakes when they speak English34When we speak a foreign language,we should_.Aspeak in Chinese wayBspeak by the rulesCspeak to native speakersDnot be afraid of making mistakesNuclear powers danger to health, safety, and even life itself can be summed up in one word: radiation.Nuclear radiation has a certain mystery about it, partly because it cannot be detected by human senses. It cant be seen or heard, or touched or tasted, even though it may be all around us. There are other things like that. For example, radio waves are all around us but we cant detect them, sense them, without a radio receiver. Similarly, we cant sense radioactivity without a radiation detector. But unlike common radio waves, nuclear radiation is not harmless to human beings and other living things. At very high levels, radiation can kill an animal or human being immediately by killing masses of cells in vital organs. But even the lowest levels can do serious damage. There is no levels of radiation that is completely safe. If the radiation does not hit anything important, the damage may not be serious. This is the case when only a few cells are hit, and if they are killed immediately, your body will replace the dead cells with healthy ones. But if the few cells are only damaged, and if they reproduce themselves, you may be in trouble. They can grow into cancer. Sometimes this does not show up for many years. This is another reason for some of the mystery about nuclear radiation. Serious damage can be done without the victim being aware at the time that damage has occurred. A person can be irradiated(辐射)and feel fine, then die for cancer five, ten, or twenty years later as a result. Or a child can be born weak as a result of radiation absorbed by its grandparents. Radiation can hurt us. We must know the truth.35What is the main idea of the passage? A. How to detect nuclear radiation.B. How radiation kill a man. C. The mystery about nuclear radiation. D. Serious damage caused by nuclear radiation.36Which of the following statements is true? A. Nuclear radiation can cause cancer to human beings.B. Nuclear radiation can be safe to human beings if its level is low.C. Nuclear radiation can be detected by human senses.D. Nuclear radiation is just like common radio waves.37What is not the reason why nuclear radiation has a certain mystery? A. The hurt cells can stay in the body many years and then grow into cancer.B. It can do harm to a person while the victim isnt aware the damage has occurred.C. Nuclear radiation can kill a person very easily.D. Radiation can seldom kill a person immediately.38If a human being is hit by nuclear radiation, he may _. A. die of cancer after many years B. die immediately C. have a child who may be born weak D. all of the above When we were very small, we realized that having friends was important. Some of us even had imaginary(想象中的)friends. The need for friends continued as we grew into our teens.Friends played a big part in forming our personalities(性格). As adults,it is still important for us to have friends. True friends are people who like us though we made mistakes and who listen to us and tell us the truth. Friends support our decisions and tell us when were foolish. They laugh with us and share our sadness. They are our partners and share interests with us. They stimulate us when we are feeling down. They are people we arent afraid of telling our secret wishes to or what is really on our minds. Friends are our supporters. When you can depend on friends, you feel safe and warm. Friends offer acceptance and emotional(情感的)support. At times, they also help with our everyday lives, cooking a meal, doing chores, or giving us a lift when we need one. Friends also are there to offer advice, an ear to listen, or a shoulder to cry on. Friends also help us reduce stress. Not only do they listen to us when we feel stressed, but they also discuss what is stressing us. Sharing interests and doing activities with friends help us forget about problems at work or at home. For a short time, we can lose ourselves in a pleasant activity and perhaps laugh and breathe more easily.39What is the best title for the passage?AHow to Reduce StressBHow to Make New FriendsCThe Importance of FriendsDThe Qualities of Good Friends40The underlined word“stimulate” in Paragraph 2 probably means_.Aeducate BencourageCsurprise Ddislike41We can learn from the third paragraph that friends always_.Alaugh at us when were foolishBtell us other peoples secretsCshare our sadness and interestsDsupport us when we need help42We can learn from the passage that_.Apeople should make friends anytimeBfriends are people who allow you to cryCa friend helps you in many waysDgood friends are always difficult to meet第II卷(非选择题)请点击修改第II卷的文字说明评卷人得分四、书面表达(题型注释)43假设你是李华。 Dear PeterI am writing to ask whether you are able to do me a favor._ Best regards,Li Hua试卷第7页,总7页参考答案1C【解析】试题分析:句意:只有在那时我才开始怀疑是否我的故事被讲过了。 I began to have doubts about whether my story had ever been told then. ow在下面单词中读au:cow, now, how, however, brown, tower, power, town等;ow在如下单词中发ou:low, row , bowl, blow , slow, know。故选A。 as well as two of his classmates不是主语。 the front door是特指Jack所走过去的门,a strange sight是泛指,相当于a certain sight,起初次介绍的作用。 8A【解析】答案Atake off 是“(飞机)起飞”;get off “下车”;get into“上车;参与;开始”;take out“取出”。 故A正确。 It is the first time+从句,从句的谓语是用现在完成时,如果是It was the first time+从句,从句的谓语就是had done,所以选C。 所以选A。 admit“承认”;excuse“原谅,宽恕”;avoid“避免”;agree“同意”。 Its up to sb意为“由某人决定”。 the number与the amount都表示“的数量”,the number后跟可数名词,the amount后跟不可数名词。 went to 准备做;stayed on继续停留;traveled on乘坐;lived in住进。 故选A。 With和.在一起;of关于;as如同; from从。固定结构 the same . as . used for用于;put with忍受;prepared for为. .was used for . looked at看;watched观察;caught捕捉;ate吃。 got得到;printed画;made制作;took拿。 another adventure另一次探险;the second trip第二次旅行;once more stay再一次呆着;next work接下来的工作。 故选A。 Search搜寻;come to想起;find发现;look for寻找。 根据文章第四句话“ Language is for the exchange(交流)of ideas and information. 根据文章中“Native speakers make mistakes and break rules, too. Bernard Shaw once wrote,Foreigners often speak English too correctly.” 根据该句前“ One shouldnt be afraid of making mistakes when speaking a foreign language.”及文章最后一句“So Chinese students of English should pay attention to grammar, but they shouldnt overdo(做过头)it. They should put communication(交际)first.” 根据文章中“ One shouldnt be afraid of making mistakes when speaking a foreign language.” Nuclear radiation has a certain mystery about it, partly because it cannot be detected by human senses. This is another reason for some of the mystery about nuclear radiation. But if the few cells are only damaged, and if they reproduce themselves, you may be in trouble. They can grow into cancer. Sometimes this does not show up for many years. But even the lowest levels can do serious damage. Nuclear radiation has a certain mystery about it, partly because it cannot be detected by human senses. But unlike common radio waves, nuclear radiation is not harmless to human beings and other living things. A person can be irradiated(辐射)and feel fine, then die for cancer five, ten, or twenty years later as a result. Serious damage can be done without the victim being aware at the time that damage has occurred. If the radiation does not hit anything important, the damage may not be serious.
