l o v e ，a n dc h o c o l a t e - l o v e ， t h ea u t h o rp o i n t so u tt h a t ，i nt e r m so ft h et h e o r yo fm y t ha n dt w o - l e v e ls i g n i f i c a t i o n ，l o v e s i g n so nt h ef i r s tl e v e lo fs i g n i f i c a t i o np r o m o t e db yt h ep o w e ro fm e d i am a y b ev a r i o u s a n de v e ne n d l e s s ，b u tt h ei m p l i e dm e a n i n g , w i t hi d e o l o g ya n ds o c i a le s t a b l i s h m e n t , a tt h e s e c o n dl e v e lr e m a i n ss i m p l ea n ds i n g l e ：l o v ea n dh a p p i n e s sc a nb ep u r c h a s e db ym o n e y i nt h i ss e n s e w h a tl i e sb e h i n dt h e 仃a n s i t i o no ft h es o l a re c l i p s ef r o ma na s t r o n o m i c a l e v e nt oal o v es i g ni st h ed r i v i n gp o w e rf r o mi n t e r e s ta n dp r o f i t k e y w o r d s ：s o l a re c l i p s e ；l o v es i g na r b i t r a r i n e s s ；u n l i m i t e ds e m i o t i c s ；m y t h 1 i i m 9删5 小1耋蕈7m 0舢8 枷1脚y i v 中文文摘 中文文摘 2 0 0 9 年7 月2 2 日发生在中国的日全食现象引起了媒体的极大关注，因为对于国 内居民，特别是长江流域的居民而言，本次日食创下了本世纪持续时间最长、观测 人口最多等多项记录。下次我国境内可以较好观测到的日全食可要等到2 0 3 5 年，但 观测条件却远不如本次。 如此一个难得的机遇自然不会被媒体轻易放过。日全食发生前很久，各大新闻 媒体就不断造势，使大众不仅对此次日食有所了解，而且还充满期待；日食当天， 人们放下手中工作，涌上街头，特制观测眼镜热销，各大传媒机构( 包括电视、报 刊杂志、网络平台等) 更是通过各种形式报导了这次日全食的全过程以及各地的观 测活动；日食发生后，各大媒体仍然保持了较大的热情，日食及相关现象的报道依 旧不时可见。 一个“千年一遇”的日全食能够引起国人的如此关注，这对于科学知识，特别 是天文学知识的普及而言，可谓大好事一件。相比古时人们将日食称为“天狗食日”， 并在恐慌之余敲锣打鼓以期拯救太阳的做法，此次“全日食 热无疑体现出社会文 明与科学的进步。但另一方面，笔者在收集、整理、分析相关新闻时，却发现2 0 0 9 年的日全食，不仅可以从天文学的角度进行研究，同时也可以从符号学的角度进行 分析日食已经成为了一个“爱情 符号。为此，笔者借助索绪尔结构主义符号 学、皮尔斯实用主义符号学以及巴尔特的神话理论等相关理论，分析了日食由天文 现象到爱情符号的这一转变，并指出这一转变体现出能指( 记号) 与所指( 对象及 概念) 之间意指关系的任意性、属性相似关系的片面性、符号类型的模糊性以及符 号意指过程的无限性等符号特性。不仅如此，对这一转变进行批判性分析还可以表 明，“日食与“爱情”之间符号意指关系的任意性并不等同于随意性，而是人为有 意选择的结果。不仅如此，这种人为有意选择还体现出深层次的经济利益。 在本文的第一部分，笔者对索绪尔结构主义符号学、皮尔斯实用主义符号学及 巴尔特神话理论的主要思想及主要术语进行了简要的评介，以此构建全文分析论述 的理论框架。 索绪尔将符号定义为能指( 音响形象) 与所指( 抽象概念) 的统一体，并提出 能指与所指之间存在的符号意指关系体现出任意性的特征：用什么能指来意指什么 抽象概念所指，这完全是人为选择的结果，而且这种关系一旦确立，就要求个人必 须服从。 巴尔特沿着索绪尔开创的结构主义符号学方向，侧重从社会及意识形态角度对 符号进行分析。他提出了关于符号的神话理论，其核心部分是符号的双层表意结构： 索绪尔提出的“能指+ 所指= 符号只是符号表意的第一个层面，产生的是“字面意 义”；到了意指的第二层面，第一层面的符号将作为能指，进一步指向一个深层次的 “内涵意义”，其中体现着渗透了意识形态的神话。 皮尔斯实用主义符号学认为符号意指过程体现出记号、对象与解释项这三者之 间的关系：在某一方面代表着某一对象的记号，会在人脑中产生抽象的概念，也就 是解释项。由于解释项也是一种记号，并在人脑中产生另一个抽象概念，如此下去 就产生了无限的符号意指过程。结合皮尔斯的符号类型三分法来看，一个图像符号 v 福建师范大学硕士学位论文 是标志符号将在这一无限符号意指过程中先代表一个具体的对象，并进而指向无 的抽象概念。 在第二部分，笔者列举了一些将日食同爱情联系在一起的新闻报道，并从记号 象关系的片面性、符号意指过程的无限性及符号关系的任意性角度，具体分析了 食从天文现象到爱情符号的转变。 首先，从记号对象之间属性相似的片面性看，日食与爱情之间可以建立起符号 系，这是因为本次日全食体现出的“罕见 、“神秘 等特性，而缘分、爱情、婚 、浪漫等抽象概念与所指对象同样也具有类似的属性。依照皮尔斯实用主义符号 的观点，日食因在某些方面或某些属性上体现出与爱情等对象的相似性，从而成 为了爱情的符号。 其次，从符号类型的模糊性及符号过程的无限性看，日全食中的“钻石环 现 象将日食与钻石、爱情、婚姻等对象与概念联系起来。在符号无限过程中，日食( 日 食的“钻石环”现象) 首先是一个图像符号( 因为外观上的相似而令人想起钻戒) ， 但同时也是一个标志符号( 因钻戒常出现在求婚、订婚、结婚等场合而指向婚姻) ， 而且还可以是象征符号( 由于约定俗成而指向钻石所象征的永恒，并进而指向美满、 幸福等) 。在这里，皮尔斯符号分类法中三种符号之间的边界模糊了，“钻石环”现 象也使得日食可以无限地指向婚姻、爱情、幸福等无数的抽象概念。 第三，从符号意指的任意性看，无论是为建立日食同缘分、爱情、浪漫之间符 号关系而凸显“罕见 、“神秘 等特性并同时隐藏“短暂”、“黑暗一等其他特性， 还是将日全食的某一瞬间命名为“钻石环 ( 同时弱化“生光 等其他说法) ，以及 将钻戒用于求婚、订婚、结婚等场合并以钻戒象征永恒的爱情，这一切都体现了人 为选择的任意性。而且，进一步分析可以发现，这种任意性并不是随意的。相反， 日食与爱情、浪漫、幸福等对象与概念之间任意性符号关系的建立体现出经济利益 方面的目的性。 在第三部分，笔者从批判的角度分析了日食爱情这二任意性符号关系背后的社 会约定俗成、意识形态以及媒体等权力因素。在借助巴尔特的神话理论对日食以及 玫瑰、巧克力等其他爱情符号进行分析后，笔者提出，媒体所宣传的爱情神话中， 爱情符号能指可能种类繁多，但在符号表意的第二层面，这些爱情符号都体现出相 对单一的内涵所指及意识形态，即爱情、浪漫与幸福都可以，也必须用金钱购买。 由此可以看出，无论是建立起日食这一新的爱情符号，还是继续宣传玫瑰、钻石等 原有的爱情符号，都体现出约定俗成及意识形态的权力，说到底，这些权力多是为 经济利益服务。 笔者对2 0 0 9 年发生在中国的日全食进行如此分析，一方面从符号学角度阐明了 日食从天文学现象到爱情符号的转变中所体现出的符号特性及转变过程，另一方面 也从批判的角度剖析了将日食作为爱情符号进行宣传的神话文本中所隐藏着的约定 俗成、媒体、意识形态，特别是经济利益等权力因素。 v i c o n t e n t 摘要 c o n t e n t a b s t r a c t 中文文摘 c o n t e n t i n t r o d u c t i o n l l i v i l -
