unit 4 i used to be afraid of the dark.good morning, ladies and gentlemen. im huang guilan i come from hejiang. it is my great honor to interpreter my lesson here . today my talking topic is from go for itgrade 9unit 4 “i used to be afraid of the dark.” section a 1a-1c. my presentation consists of seven parts. next, ill analysis it one by one.part i analysis of the teaching material this is the first period of the unit. according to compare the changes of past with now ,students can use “used to” to describe the changes .part ii analysis of the studentsthe students can describe peoples appearance and personalities. they are interested in talking about the changes.part iii teaching aims1. knowledge goal: in this period ill encourage the students to use the key vocabularies: used to , short. tall,wear glasses, have curly hair to practice the target language:i use to be short, now ,im tall. did you use to have curly hair? she used to wear glasses, didnt she?.2 .ability goal: improve the students listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. train students to talk about what they used to be like.3 moral goal: to have good personalities and encourage the students respect the old and cherish the young.part iv: teaching important points and difficult points1. important points:to help students learn and grasp the key vocabularies and the target languages.2. difficult points: to talk about people what they used to be like.part v teaching and learning strategies1. teaching methods 1).five-step teaching method2). communicative teaching method 3). audio-visual teaching method 4). “task-based” teaching method 5). teaching by pairwork and groupwork.2. learning strategies: 1)cooperative learning strategy 2) discovery learning strategy. 3) inductive learning strategy part v teaching procedures: step 1. lead-in:( the 3 minutes before the class, ill show some pictures ,ask the students to guess: “who is he ”- yao ming . what does he look like?)he is tall. he is strong. he is serious. he likes playing basketball. step2. presentationactivity1.what did yao ming use to look like?he used to be short. he used to be shy. he used to have short hair.activity2,group show. (before the lesson, theyve written the words that describe the appearance and the personalities on the small blackboards. theyll be checked by the exchange group. which group is the best? give them scores.a,3 scores,b,2 scores ,c 1score)activity3,show some pictures to review some words to describe people.(cai)personality :tall, short, strong, thin, ,short/ brown long /black curly hair ,wear glasses appearance: shy, quiet, friendly, serious, funny then fill in the blanks in 1a.activity4. brain storm: translate the words. (if they get the right answer, theyll get 1score.a student reports, the others listen carefully, they might correct the mistakes. if they find a mistake ,they ll get one score )according to the activities, ss can master the words and phrases very well.step 3. practice:pairwork: give the example: im tall, but i used to be short, i have curly hair, i used to have straight hair. then pair work, they may use the sentences: did you use to have curly hair? yes ,i did /no, i didnt. i used to have straight hair. then act it out.step 4.brief summaryencourage the ss to make a summary. used to +be+ adj., used to+v.step 5: presentation and drillactivity1. first look at the screen about li xiangs change. practice:q1:did li xiang use to wear glasses? yes, she did. she used to wear glasses.q2: did she use to be shy? no, she didnt .she used to be outgoing.one more example. angelas change.q3: angela use to have curly hair, didnt she ?no, she didnt. she didnt use to have curly hair. she used to have straight hair.this step practices the general questions and negative sentences.activity2. group work: describe your family members change.this step encourages the students respect the old and cherish the young.activity3. you should know more add “there used to be” students often make mistakes this step encourages the students to protect our environment .step 6. listening practice.1. listen and fill in the chart.2. check the answers.step 7. lucky choice (catching sheep.)this step encourages the students master the knowledge in an interesting way.step 8.writing practice.1. show some pictures on the screen. first students talk about the changes. then write them down.(music) next check the answers.
