摘要 传统上， 翻译活动一直被看作是两种语言之间的转换过程， 因此 翻译研究一直以语言分析和文本的对照作为主要任务。 随着全球化跨 文化交往的扩大， 人们开始认识到翻译实际上是一种交际活动。 不少 学者开始从语言深层结构和语言对文本和社会活动的影响方面对翻 译活动进行研究。 这些探索有助于使人们进一步认识本族和外国语 言的特点， 更加重视不同语言间的不同表达方式。 这样， 人们才能使 不同的语言和文化适应人们交往的目的。 上世纪五十年代后期，兴起了一门新的语言学科一一对比语言 学。 许多学者长期从对比语言学的角度研究翻译理论。 经验表明: 翻 译理论和技巧必须建立在不同语言的对比分析的基础之上。 互译的一 些基本技巧如选词、转换、增益、 省略等等都与不同语言之间的对比 研究密切相关。 因此， 翻译研究的重要任务应放在分析研究语言和文 化的差异，以避免表达的错误，从而成功地达到交际目 的。 连淑能教授在 1 9 9 3年出版了 英汉对比研究一书。在该书的 第八章研究的基础上， 木文试图进一步探讨虚实化意的策略， 以推动 翻译理论的研究。 本文作者希望通过本论文引起人们对此策略运用的 重视，使人们对虚实化意的实质有进一步认识。 本论文共分五个部分: 第一章概述翻译的虚实观，并列举中国学者在这方面的有关论
