摘要 本文试图在管约论框架内对英汉提升结构进行比较研究。英语提 升结构指的是名词短语从一个有论旨角色但无格的子句主语位置提 升到无论旨角色但有格的主句主语位置，而汉语的提升结构略显复 杂。 以往的研究对英汉提升结构作出了大量的解释，但在汉语提升谓 词的分类与句法位置以及选择性提升的形成方面存在着分歧，而且对 于英汉提升结构的比较研究并不多见。本文认为汉语提升谓词在v p 的中心语位置；它们可分为如下三类：认知提升谓词、时态提升谓词、 难易提升谓词。根据t s a o ( 曹逢甫1 9 9 6 ) 的主题提升律，我们认为 汉语中n p 提升与句法、语用、语义因素有关，涉及主题化和主题提 升两个过程。这样，汉语提升结构的生成就得到了合理的解释。 在对英汉提升结构分别作了详尽的分析后，本文集中对这两种结 构的异同之处进行了对比分析。两者的差异在于：首先，提升的动因 不同。英语中的n p 提升是句法方面的；汉语中的n p 提升受句法、 语用、语义冈素的综合影响，并且汉语提升结构的语序遵循语用因素 句法因素 语义因素的优先顺序。其次，提升的n p 性质不| 一：英 语中为主语提升；汉语中为主题提升。再则，形成过程不同：英语的 n p 是a m o v e m e n t 过程，汉语是c p 附接过程。英语只提升一个n p , 汉语可提升一个以上n p 。英语的n p 从 s p e c ，i p 】到 s p e c ，i p ，汉 i 语的n p 从 s p e c ，i p 】或动词的补语位置到 s p e c ，c v 。英语中提升 主要遵循题元准则、格检验式、扩展投射原则等一系列句法规则，汉 语中主要遵循主题提升原则；英语中n p 提升是必有型提升，汉语中 是可选型提升。另外，提升的限制条件不同。英语中n p 受到不能跨 越同一分句主语的位置与不能移出时态句的阻碍；而汉语n p 提升不 受影响。两者也存在相同之处：英汉提升谓词的性质相同；形成过程 中均遵循了语迹理论、成分统制原则、最短距离移位原则；允许提升 谓词多个联合使用的句法表征现象。 这项研究验证了普遍语法的普遍性，为生成语法进一步修正和完 善提供了一定的依据。 关键词：提升结构，主题化，主题提升 a b s t r a c t t h i st h e s
