从新批评的角度看罗伯特勃朗宁诗作的艺术技巧论 专业：英语语言文学 方向：英美诗歌研究 摘要 导师：刘治良教授 研究生：陈敏 在国外，对勃朗宁研究的日趋经典化在他1 8 8 9 年逝世时已逐渐形成了些机 制。只要是见过他或是读过他作品的人都毫无疑问地能印证他的作品所能带来的 好的影响。 在这篇论文里，笔者主要探讨了勃朗宁诗歌的艺术技巧在他的作品里有深 度，强度，反讽，悖论，奇想以及幽默。这样的一些艺术手法不仅是对勃朗宁 诗作研究价值的体现，同时也揭示了每首诗所带来的美学反应 第一章包含对文献综述的回顾，自己的设想，用到的理论，以及此篇论文的 研究价值。在这篇论文里，笔者将会结合新批评的相关理论来重点分析勃朗宁的 四首戏剧独白诗中的题材，结构以及意义 第二章主要分析他诗作中的题材。勃朗宁的诗歌题材非常广泛，从宗教到艺 术到科学，而且重点研究描写压抑的心灵和扭曲的头脑。勃朗宁的诗歌总的说来 是关于情节场景的诗歌。他选择一个人物来描写，尽管这个角色也许毫无生气， 但勃朗宁也可以把他置于某种戏剧场景中，让戏剧场景中的重要因素使角色变得 生动起来。我们同样可以在这些诗作中的角色所表达的观点里找到勃朗宁自身的 关于宗教，艺术和爱的观点。 第三章主要分析他诗作的结构。大量的文学手法是表达意义的积极因素，同 时也是和意义密不可分的。对比，反讽，悖论是文学手法也可以为题材所使用。 诗作的用语，句子结构，意象能够产生意义同时意义也为它们服务。在这篇论文 里讨论的勃朗宁的四首戏剧独自诗中，我们发现勃朗宁拒绝为用词而选择其用 语。他选择的用语随着角色的变化而变化。勃朗宁所运用的多种艺术手法能激起 美学反应并充实他的诗歌。 第四章主要分析他诗作中的意义。由文学手法和语言所产生的张力和冲突矛 盾能给我们带来一系列美学反应。意义最终产生于素材和结构的结合，句子结构 及所采用的修辞手法与最终产生的意义息息相关。在这篇论文所讨论的四首诗里 存在着几种不同的矛盾。有时矛盾存在于角色之内，比如安德拉的矛盾；有时矛 盾存在于自身和外部世界之间，比如利波和主教的矛盾。有时矛盾存在于角色和 其他力量之间，这种力量无关乎他自己，也无关乎外部世界。例如主教道歉里的 主教的矛盾。这样就达到了使其诗歌平衡，统一的意义。 第五部分是结论。总结全文，谈谈文章的局限性以及以后还将深入讨论的问 题。勃朗宁对题材的选择充分表明了他作品的特点及肌质：对于本身存在矛盾， 不协调因素和悖论的角色及场景情有独衷。作为表达的最终形式，结构是由人物 素材来充实的，人物素材也因结构而变得有血有肉起来。结构及所运用的艺术手 法本身也是构成最终意义的一部分。勃朗宁诗作中的用语及结构是他的观点及情 感的精确表达。我们可以从角色的语言，诗作中的意象，反讽等多种艺术手法中 领略其所要表达的观点最终，诗歌的意义就由此而产生了。诗人结合题材和结 构来分析并表明他自己看待事物的综合观点，成功地协调了诗作中的张力使其诗 作生动，平衡，统一，从而实现其诗歌的艺术价值。 关键词：罗伯特勃朗宁新批评题材结构意义文学手法 t h ea r
