教师信念研究已经成为西方教育研究领域的一个重要组成部分，然而在中国这一 研究才刚刚起步。国内对教师信念的研究主要集中在教师信念与教师课堂实践的关系 上。本研究旨在研究大学英语教师信念所处的主要阶段及其对教师专业发展的启示。 这一方面的研究是教师信念研究领域的一个重要组成部分，并且对大学英语教学改革 的成效有着重要的意义。 本研究建立在教师信念理论与教师职业发展理论的基础上。根据费斯勒( 1 9 8 5 ) 和休伯曼( 1 9 9 3 ) 对教师职业生涯阶段的划分，本研究将研究对象按教龄分成五组。 第一组包括教龄为1 - 6 年的教师。第二组为教龄7 - 1 2 年的教师。第三组教龄为1 3 1 8 年。第四组教龄为1 9 - 2 5 年。第五组为2 6 - 3 1 年。本研究采用量化研究方法，包括问 卷调查和统计分析。所用问卷主要包括三个部分：第一部分关于研究对象的背景信 息，包括性别，年龄，教龄，学历，毕业院校和职称。第二部分是教师信念量表。此 量表由台湾学者朱苑瑜，叶玉珠设计。该量表分为四个维度，分别为学生管理信念， 课程信念，评价信念，学生学习信念。第三部分是教师工作满意量表。这一量表选自 吕国光( 2 0 0 4 ) 的博士论文。该量表测试教师对教学，工作环境，升迁，收入及学习 管理的满意度。 来自长春市四所大学的1 0 4 位大学英语教师参与了问卷的回答，其中1 0 1 份问卷 为有效问卷。所收集的数据包括教师对学生管理、课程、评价、学生学习四个方面的 信念及教师对其工作状况的满意度。数据采用s p s s ( 1 7 0 ) 分析。结果显示不同教龄阶 段的大学英语教师的信念是存在差异的。教龄为1 - 6 年的教师的课程信念，评价信念 和学生学习信念更为开放，更倾向以学生为中心。教龄为7 - 1 2 和1 3 一1 8 年的教师的学 生管理和学生学习信念较之前者略为保守。教龄为1 9 - 2 5 年的教师的课程和评价信念 比教龄为1 - 1 8 年的教师都更传统。教龄为2 6 - 3 1 年的教师在课程，评价和学生学习信 念上最为保守。 对教师工作满意度的调查也表明不同教龄阶段的教师之间存在差异。教龄为1 - 6 年和7 - 1 2 年的教师之间工作满意度呈下降趋势，到1 3 1 8 年，教师工作满意度有小幅 度回升，到1 9 - 2 5 年又有大幅下降趋势，到2 6 3 1 年则又大幅上升。 根据教师生涯每一阶段的特征和各阶段教师信念所呈现的特点，及各阶段教师工 作满意度，作者将当代大学英语教师目前所处的职业生涯阶段进行了归类。教龄为1 - 6 年的教师处在入职期：7 - 1 8 年的教师为实验期：1 9 2 5 年的教师为平静期；2 6 - 3 1 年的 教师为保守期。
