摘要 语篇连贯标志着语篇的整体性和一致性，一直是语篇分析领域的热门话题。一些研 究者认为语篇连贯是语篇固有的特征，将其研究局限于语篇本身。他们的研究对语篇的 语言形式特征作了详尽的描写，却忽略了语境的影响和语篇参与者的认知因素。一些研 究者认为不考虑语境和语篇参与者研究连贯是不合理的，他们认为连贯是语篇解读过程 中推理及认知操作的结果。近年来从认知角度对语篇连贯的研究得到了越来越多研究者 的认可，他们认为人类的认知能力和背景知识是构建语篇连贯的关键因素，认知角度的 研究能对语篇解读做出较好的解释。但是，相比较而言从转喻角度对语篇连贯的研究尚 不多见，作为一种基本的思维方式，转喻势必在语篇连贯构建过程中发挥至关重要作用， 因此本文试图从这一角度研究语篇连贯。 基于r a d d e n & k o v e c s e s ( 1 9 9 9 ) 认知转喻理论和a 1 一s h a r a f i ( 2 0 0 4 ) 的图式模型，以英、 汉两种语料为佐证，论文研究了转喻如何在语篇解读过程中促进语篇连贯。首先本文将 r a d d e n & k o v e c s e s ( 1 9 9 9 ) 的研究拓展到语篇层面，从转喻角度揭示了语篇空环现象的成 因。接着文章探讨了转喻在语篇解读过程中补充语篇缺省信息的功能，在此基础上转喻 促进了语篇连贯。关于转喻对语篇缺省信息的补充，文章主要探讨了以下三个方面：图 式知识的激活、语境的激活和重构、会话含义的解读。论文研究发现如下： ( 1 ) 语篇与它意欲传达的信息之间形成部分与整体的关系，因为语篇不可能把所 有相关的信息都说或写出来，基于转喻思维，语篇只能用突显的或易感知的部分来代替 整体，总有许多信息是隐含或预设的。实际上语篇只是起引导人们理解语篇意欲传达的 全部信息的作用。为了全面、连贯的理解语篇，一些未言明的信息应该从共享知识或语 境中获得补充才能建立语篇连贯。 ( 2 ) 对于利用共享知识补充语篇缺省信息，研究认为，借助我们大脑中共享知识 一图式的激活，我们转喻式的从部分推知事物整体，或识别出语篇中隐含的因果关系， 进而补充语篇缺省信息。至于另外两个方面：语境信息的获取和对会话含义的解读，我 们认为正是我们的转喻思维模式帮助我们从语境中获取必需的信息，或通过重构语境获 取相关信息进而理解语篇。转喻思维使我们从部分推知整体，从原因推知结果，是我们 理解会话含义的基础。随着缺省信息的填补语篇被理解为一个统一的整体。 ( 3 ) 研究还发现，基于转喻推理，图式知识的激活可以帮助重构语境，而语境的 重构又可以修改图式，会话含义的解读也涉及图式及语境的激活，在此基础上才能识别 i v 发话人的意图。 通过转喻式的补充语篇缺损信息，语篇被理解为一个统一的整体。我们在语篇解读 过程中进行的认知操作和推理在很大程度上是转喻思维对缺省信息的补充和验证。总 之，通过对语篇缺省信息的填充，转喻为语篇提供了连续性，促进了语篇连贯。 关键词：语篇；语篇连贯；转喻；信息缺省；语篇解读 a b s t r a c t a sa i le s s e n t i a ln o t i o nd e
