摘要 本文主要运用细读法，凭依后殖民文学理论，试图以殖民背景下的身份问题 为主线来探讨英国首位诺贝尔文学奖得主鲁德亚德吉卜林的印度题材小说。作者 的双重文化身份和殖民主题使其作品具备了典型的后殖民文学色彩。本文的论点 是：吉卜林的印度题材小说显示出他深刻的矛盾性。一方面，吉卜林在理智上持 效忠大英帝国的立场；另一方面，由于吉卜林在印度出生并度过了他的童年时期， 而后又在此工作了七年，他对印度社会有敏锐的观察和了解，对印度怀有深厚的 个人感情。 本文由四个部分组成。 首先介绍了吉卜林的生平及其写作生涯，并对吉卜林作品的学术价值做了简 要的说明。 第一章主要介绍论文采用的后殖民文学理论，主要包括后殖民文学理论的定 义及其发展，后殖民文学理论的研究方法，萨义德提出的东方主义。 第二章是论文的主体部分，旨在运用后殖民文学理论对吉卜林三个时期的印
