摘要 在日常口语交际中，省略是常见的语言现象。它虽然是一种简单的语法现象，但 其语用功能却较为复杂。在口语交际中，省略有时并不仅仅是为了避免冗长的话语， 而是有多种不同的交际意图。英语学习者常常无法正确理解省略的真正含义，进而影 响其正常的交流。因此，从语用的角度全面系统地分析省略是十分必要的。 语言学家们分别从语法、语义、语用不同角度研究省略现象。现有的从语用角度 研究省略的文章主要是以经济原则和关联准则为理论基础的，而将省略与合作原则相 联系的研究却为之甚少。本文的主旨意在将对省略的研究置于合作原则的理论框架 下，进而对其语用功能加以阐述。 通过分析语料，我们得出结论，在口语交际中，省略不仅仅是为了避免累赘，同 时还有弱化批评、增添幽默、寻求一致等语用功能。本文希望通过对省略语用功能的 分析能有助于英语学习者理解口语中省略的不同含义。
