Students can develop a sense of loving chores and helping their parents with chores. Its a good way to improve their relations with their parents.Key Points:1. Apart from showing their attitude, students have to show the reasons for their attitude towards chores and be more open-minded in accepting opinions that are different from their own.2. Students should grasp the key points and phrases, for example, provide sth. for sb., The earlierthe betterTeaching Procedures:1.【Leadin】 Teacher looks around the class room and speaks in praise of the clean classroom, and then asks which group is on duty to lead in the new lesson, and show the idea that everyone should do a part in keeping our classroom clean and tidy.2.【Prereading】Look at the picture in P22, guess the mans identity and his attitude to chores, then predict the main idea.3【Whilereading】(1) Skimming for the main ideaRead the two letters quickly and make it clear who agrees and who disagrees. Then instruct students to use the useful reading strategy-skimming to finish the task on time. (2) Scanning for the supporting reasons Read the two letters respectively to find out the supporting reasons. And lead students to pay attention to the linkers. (3) Careful reading for details Read the two letters carefully, and pay more attention to the details. Then think about some questions according the letters and students understanding. Teacher chooses other students to answer them. Instruct students to use the key words to locate and find the answers. (4) Language points Review the passage and find out the difficulties students still cant understand, and then encourage other students to help work them out. Call for students to guess the meaning through the context instead of looking them up in dictionaries.4.【Postreading: discussion in groups】Let students work in groups of four and have a discussion about whether young people should do chores at home. In each group, one should be the leader to present their opinions, while the rest three students should give as many supporting ideas as they can. Then choose some groups to show it. One opinion, one point.5.【Summary】Summarize the main idea and the important reading strategies in this passage.
