Model 1 Unit 4 Earthquakes合川盐井中学 作者：汪学梅联系电话高中英语教学课型：阅读课 教学内容：warming up, pre-reading, reading, &comprehending 教学目标：培养学生通过阅读来获取语言知识和获得有关唐山大地震的信息，并在学习过程中认识地震的前兆和自救，与此同时，掌握一定的阅读技巧，为理解语言和掌握大意作策略上的准备。 教学步骤： 步骤一：导入展示汶川大地震的相关图片。引导学生描述地震的危害。引出：its always quiet before a storm，并让学生猜测其意。Earthquakebuildingsdestroy , damage, in ruins, fall down, be goneTrafficbe in a mess, be uselessCommunicationcut off, lose touch withPeoplehurt, be injured, die, bury, be trapped in, live without water and food. 设计说明：熟悉的话题引入，让学生有话可说，有利于全体学生的参与性。相同的话题引入，开门见山地让学生进入情景氛围。因为汶川地震是学生耳闻目见过的，所以学生们比较积极，踊跃地把自己知道的分享给大家。 步骤二：理解课文。 活动1：从题目入手：理解并简化题目。A NIGHT THE EARTH DIDN SLEEPA night Which night?What happened to the earth?earthquakewhenwhere最后题目=an earthquake happened in Tangshan, Hebei, in the night of July 28,1976.=Tangshan earthquake 设计说明：顺藤摸瓜，让学生明白文章所写内容。并引导学生判断文章体裁（记叙文narrative）及写作的顺序（按时间顺序the time of line）,为分析文章段落大意埋下伏笔。 活动2：速读，快速阅读课文，归纳各段段落大意。Paragraph Main idea 1 Strange things before the earthquake 2 The outbreak of the earthquake 3 The damage of the earthquake 4 The rescue after the earthquake 设计说明：让同学们通过速读的方式，按照写作的内容和顺序，勾画或归纳出各段大意。在此部分可以交给学生如何寻找主题句，归纳主题，让学生在阅读时更有目的性。 活动3：仔细阅读课文各段，找出各段大意的具体表现。第一段：（1）strange things:In the countryside well water, well wall, gasIn the farmyardchickens, pigs, mice, fish, bright lights, the sound of planesIn the city Water pipe（2）人们对此的反应：think little of 设计说明：通过细读让学生感知地震的征兆，并认识到如果我们能够认识地震的前兆，就能提前做好准备，让更多的人获得求生的机会，减少或避免不必要的损失。 第二，三段：The world seemed to be at an end-Why did the text say so ?设计说明：通过细读让学生了解地震对整个城市造成的毁灭性破坏。第四段：All hope was not lost -who came to help Tangshan first ?And how?设计说明：让学生了解地震后的全国大援救。并引导学生思考震后如何施救。活动3：根据课文内容填空。Several days before July 28th, 1976 , many strange things happened in Tangshan. They were signs for the 1 .
