However, here are a few rules worth considering. The first rule of research is to think, think and think again. Never hesitate to throw your mind at anything. That should be the first thing you try. Before looking up a book or paper, before asking anyone, think. For example, suppose you are reading a paper and something needs to be proved. Should you go on to read the proof? No. First, try to prove it yourself. If you dont succeed after a reasonable time, find out how it is proved by others. But if you solve it yourself, you will have understood it better. What you solve by thinking is your baby from then on. The second rule is to learn by examples. Papers and discussions with your advisor or classmate are a source of materiel. Many good examples can be found in them. You will learn how to write a paper by looking at other papers. When you see a new problem, ask yourself what kinds of questions were asked about similar problems. Then you can ask valuable questions about the new one. The third rule is to know the difference between understanding and knowledge. It is more important to understand well what you know than to know a lot. Successful research comes from having a good understanding, especially of the basics. When you read a paper, ask yourself questions. Like can I do it in a different way? Understanding means the ability to go beyond the immediate. It means knowing not just what is the item in question, but how it fits into a larger context or applied to a more general situation.6. While having stress in your life is normal and often unavoidable, being stressed is something you can control. The following tips will help you to control your stress and help you to relax. First, get some sleep. Many college students do not sleep enough. But getting more sleep can help your mind focus. This can mean a quick nap, a night when you go to bed early, or a promise to yourself to stick with a regular sleep schedule. Sometimes, one good nights sleep can be all you need to deal with stress. Second, eat well. Your eating habits may have been disrupted when you started school. But think about what and when youve eaten over the past few days. Stress is also related to physical health. So eat something balanced and healthy, such as fruits and vegetables, and whole grains. Third, do more exercises. Exercise doesnt necessarily have to involve a 2-hour, exhausting workout at the campus gym. It can mean a relaxing, 30-minute walk while listening to your favorite music. In fact, in a little over an hour, you can walk 15 minutes to your favorite off-campus restaurant, eat a quick and healthy meal, walk back, and take a good nap. Imagine how much better youll feel! Fourth and last, get some quiet time. Take one moment and think: when was the last time you had some quality, quiet time alone? You may share your room, your bathroom, your classrooms, your dining hall, the gym, the bookstore, the library, and anywhere else you go during an average day. Finding a few moments of peace and quiet ?with no cell phone, roommates, or crowds ?might be just what you need. Stepping out from the crazy college environment for a few minutes can do wonders for reducing your stress.11. _ is normal and often unavoidable in your life.A) Having stressB) Being stressedC) Going to schoolD) Feeling unsuccessful Script: _ is normal and often unavoidable in your life.正确答案:A学生答案:A 得分:2分 12.
