unit4 the next step task 2thoughts on the design:这一部分在前一节听和读的基础上继续设计说和写的活动,从而为最终完成本板块writing a report about course choices的写作任务。任务教学的关键是让学生明白任务的目的和实现任务的步骤,本课的设计紧紧抓住写作的最终目标,通过说和写作提示从而减少写作任务的难度。任务教学的另一个关键就是学生之间的合作,所以本课依然在每一项任务实施的过程中都强调相互合作。teaching aims:after learning the task, the students will be able to:1. talk about courses options;2. write a report about course choices.teaching procedures:step 1 lead-in ask students report what they have written for the discussion of last period.explanation通过复习达到巩固上节课的目的,并且为本节课的写作奠定基础。step 2 speaking:discussing course possibilities1. do you remember the questions being asked in listening tasks? play the tape again if necessary.(1) what course do you think you will choose to study?(2) do you remember when the local newspaper published my writing last year?(3) have you decided upon your courses yet?(4) what about you?(5) what do you think?2. when you are discussing options or possibilities, it is like playing a game of tennis.one way: asking questions.another way: adding question tags what do you think?, isnt it?what is your opinion?, wouldnt you?what would you do?, do you think that is true/possible/correct?dont you think so?3. discussing course options.(1) read the directions in this part and be sure to know what to do.(2) work in pairs and prepare the dialogues.(3) present their dialogues to the class.sample:s1: i think its time that we chose a suitable course to study at university. which two courses have you chosen?s2: biochemistry and information technology. what do you think?s1: these two courses are quite popular, arent they? why did you choose them?s2: theyre both popular courses and both require you to be good at problem-solving. s1: i think youre right. youre quite good at problem-solving, especially with computers.s2: thats true. besides, i think both biochemistry and information technology are interesting and exciting. biochemistry or it graduates can also find a well-paid job. s1: which of these two courses suits your personality better?s2: i want to do something practical, so i think ill study biochemistry. its a practical science course based on biology.s1: thats a good choice, but why not study a tradtional science course? something like maths or physics.s2: i dont want to study maths or physics because they are boring and not popular. besides, im not good at them. i dont want t ostudy law, either-there are som many rules to remember. i think its difficult, isnt it?s1: yes, it is. im sure youve made a good choice.explanation激活学生已有知识,体现课堂的整体感,能够更好地抓住学生的注意力,通过提示能够减轻交际负担,更加顺利地达成任务的目的,这一点对于培养学生的自信心非常关键。step 3 writing a report about options 1. present an example structure for students to follow:(1) introduction (what the report is about)(2) background information (the type of options you can choose)(3) option 1 (positive/negative aspects) (4) option 2 (positive/negative aspects)(5) conclusion (your choice and why)2. tips:introduction it is time for senior high three students to decide which course to study at university since they will be finishing high school and going to university soon.background information which courses are available? there are popular courses, such as information technology, computer engineering, biochemistry, law, communications.there are also traditional courses, like maths, physics, chemistry and chinese.option 1 international economics and tradepositive aspects:expect to work in an international company or a bankhave a chance to travel to foreign countries negative aspects:a lot of students study this subject, so there is competition for places at companieslimited positions available and very high entry requirementsoption 2 communications positive aspects:interesting and a chance to be creative visit different places and meet different peoplenegative aspects:work very long hours and under pressure could be in dangerous situationsconclusion choose communicationsthe reasons:interestingenjoy challengeslike traveling and meeting different people positives outweigh negatives3. write the report individually. compare the reports with their partners.4. present two or three students reports to the class and ask for
