文档简介
Topic1: Talk about idols and fansA: Do you know my favorite idol Eason is coming to Hang Zhou soon?B: Really? I continue to fascinate him, dont you?C: To be honest, I dont have idol.B: Why? Thats sounds amazing!C: Well, pop stars today enjoy a lifestyle which is the prerogative of the rich. They accept fame, wealth and adulation on an unprecedented scale. Wherever they go, people turn out to welcome them. The life style doesnt fit me. It may bring them momentary(mumntri 详细adj. 瞬间的;短暂的;随时会发生的) pleasure, but the expense is damnable. D: They are wild about the stars glamour and want to know everything about them. They get their hair cut like them, dress like them and buy what they buy. They also dream of making beaucoup bucks like them. This obsession with celebrities, I think, is very harmful. It encourages hedonism, vanity and daydreams. And it diverts individuals, especially young people, from other values such as commitment, determination and hard work.A: I disagree with you. But to tell the truth, some stars are dishonest and hypocritical (,hipkritikl adj. 虚伪的;伪善的). They often mislead and deceive people. Recently, some American stars went on television and touted their books that caution people against wanton sexual behavior. But, this all sounds nice on the surface. Their books attract attention simply because they titillate the readers with details about sex lives of women. So, you can learn a lot about the stars from the things they did. If they really want to warn people away from unmarried sex. Why didnt they pen a book about venereal diseases or the hardships of teen motherhood?B: Idolizing pop stars actually often distracts students attention and interferes with their studies. However, I think taking pop stars as idols is acceptable.A: Yeah. Most pop stars can be role models for people.E: For example, sports stars accept the admiration that goes with their sporting excellence. They hold the hearts of young people much more than their teachers, friends, or even parents. A lot of kids look at the great athletes as idols and try to emulate them. They get more exercise to stay fit and active. They also learn what makes a good athlete. It takes determination, discipline, sacrifice, hard work, as well as respect for opponents. These are the qualities that ensure success in any field.B: Movie stars can do the same. Remember Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn. Think about Sophia Loren and Madonna. These movie stars have a lot of charisma and a mesmerizing effect on people: their personality, their charm, smile and stance. A: And their sparkling eyes.E: Yes, their sparkling eyes. But their beauty is more than an exterior shell. It is their internal beauty that is working. Idol fans love them not only because of their exterior beauty, but also because of the deeper, inner beauty of confidence, passion and kindness. There are many elements. Some huge stars often donate to charity and raise millions to help needy people. They have strong persuasive abilities to influence their fans.C: En, throw away the apple because of the core is not a wise choice.D: Moreover, some idols rough roads to success can put the fans in mind of the ceaseless efforts needed in pursuing their dreams.C: Take, for example, the Chinese pop star_. Her great success in the _ came after her brave struggle against difficulties. Her strong will and great perseverance teach young people to be tough and brave. B: For the reasons above, I think taking pop stars as idols has positive effects.C: Yeah. Im not the idol fans, but I consider holding someone as idol is good.A: May be the pop stars sometimes dont have positive effect to the society, we can not say taking pop stars as idols is unacceptable.C: To sum up, being a pop star looks great on the outside, but the outside isnt always the whole picture. Getting to that point takes lots of work. We should encourage people especially our kids, to be skeptical and help them see the real world through the lens of critical thinking.Topic2: Talk about job huntingA: Hey! Guy, hows it going?C: Not too bad! Im thinking about how to find a job these days. A: A job? Are you kidding? We are still grade two! Dont you think its too early? C: No, choosing a job is definitely an extremely important task. It is a life changing decision, therefore it is vital. B: Oh, Did you have any luck?C: I havent found a job yet.A: why?C: All kinds of reasons, maybe its because I now only a student.B:For you is too early to find work.D: I think the will of wanting to do something to try for the future is deserved to be encouraged.E: I have heard many graduates who face the problem of unemployment. Its reported that the amount of the unemployment rate of graduates has being increased these years.A: Thats horrible! I can hardly image the life we cant find a job after we finish school? B: So we cant wait anymore.D: I heard the news that Beijing encouraged local employees to hire Beijing graduates.C: Yeah. The policy is responsible and pragmatic(prmtikadj. 实际的;实用主义的;国事的) rather than discriminatory(diskrimintriadj. 有辨识力的;差别对待的). Just as the rate of college enrollment in big cities is higher than in many other places, the difficulty of finding a job is much greater. Nobody can blame the government for trying to find local graduates jobs. The reality of the situation makes it irresponsible(,irispnsbladj. 不负责任的;不可靠的) to encourage job-oriented migration.E: For many years, the central government has been encouraging graduates to find jobs at grassroots levels and in underdeveloped areas. But many graduates still flock to big cities to seek employment in big enterprises and companies. The Beijing policy is in fact to encourage students to rely on the government to find them jobs near their home. A: Helping graduates get jobs is a government responsibility, but the government should find ways to create more job opportunities instead of issuing an administrative order to guarantee each local graduate employment.D: I think so. But the fact is not so bad in my mind!C: Do you have some tips of succeed?D: I can use my parents to find a job!C: Im very envious; Im still struggling to find a job.B: I question whether parental help violates fairness in the job market. When these students get good positions so easily, they take the bread out of the mouths of other students who may be just as deserving.A: And it reduces the chances of people from less wealthy families climbing out of hardship.D: I disagree with you. Networking is an important skill to learn, and that includes learning how to take advantage of parents networks.E: Students with families who lack networks should develop their own, through friends or connections made during internships. This is the way for them to go.A: En. Thats sound reasonable. Parents are natural allies when students need help into the world of work. If they can support students achievements and help the university to carry out its mission, why not use it well?C: I consider parents useful resources to find jobs. Maybe partnered could establish a means to help students find jobs or internships.B: Well, what kind of work are you looking for?C: I thought maybe I could get into someones training program.D:This sounds great.E:The books all say that industry needs college people with a general education, but none of the personnel officers who interviewed me seemed to have read those books.D:They all wanted people who could do specific things. I suppose the books are right, but maybe there are more people with liberal educations looking for jobs, and there probably arent as many of those jobs available anyway.C:This is what I fear.B: Fortunately, you still have time to enrich yourself.E: Hey, what are the standards of your ideal jobs, high income or something else? D: Money is not everything!E: Not money, what the most important thing when you choose a job, a good working condition or a good position?B: Right! Working condition is really an important factory that we cant ignore.A: And so is the position in a company or a department. C: Yeah! You make a good point. So we should consider all the factors before reaching a conclusion. Look before you leap. A: That is t
