编号The Problems and Countermeasures of Multimedia Teaching Abstract: With the development of society and the advancement of technology, multimedia teaching has entered the English class. Now the multimedia teaching has become an advanced teaching means of quality education in teaching. Multimedia teaching becomes more and more popular, because it is visualizing, attractive and flexible to mobilize studying enthusiasm of students effectively and improving teaching efficiency. As a modern teaching means, multimedia overcomes limitation of traditional methods, and brings infinite living and vital force for teaching and learning But now we find that more and more disadvantages of multimedia teaching are emerging. It is not the fault with multimedia, but the fault with those who use it. For example, many teachers use multimedia excessively in their class, which results in dissatisfying effect or even failure. Introduction“Computer and English” are known as the two keys to the gate of 21st century. Technology and education have long been intertwined, but never has the movement to merge the two. Over the past twenty years, with the prevalence of computers in the home and workplace, it has now become feasible and affordable to integrate multimedia technology into the teaching and learning process. The modern information technology is high-tech method to administer the teaching. It is necessary to utilize this new method in English teaching. Multimedia teaching method based on multimedia and network technologies changes the traditional teacher-centered teaching mode. Compared with the original teaching model, multimedia teaching in English has obvious advantages. The application of the modern information technology improves the teaching environment, promotes the teaching efficiency, expands the content of course, and stimulates the interests of students. This infusion of multimedia into English teaching and learning process has altered considerably the instructional strategy in our educational institutions and changed the way of teachers teaching and students learning. Nowadays, multimedia is being used increasingly in school to enhance the quality of teaching and learning.But at the same time, as a popular saying, every coin has its two sides. For example, displaying too fast for students to have enough time to think, and decreasing interaction between teachers and students and poor interactive activity as well. The most important is that we must pay our mind on the problems and shortcomings that exits in the course of multimedia teaching. This paper is mainly focused on solving the problems of multimedia teaching. In order to facilitate students learning, exert the function of multimedia in the teaching and enhance the effectiveness of teaching. Through this analysis will let the teachers know the multimedia more clearly so that uses it correctly and effectively.2. Literature Review Multimedia technology as a new type of education tool has been applied by more and more educators. At the same time, multimedia teaching as a modern educational technology is a major change in traditional teaching, it also has become increasingly important. There is no doubt that multimedia teaching for the convenience and efficiency of teaching, while some shortcomings and insufficient are found in multimedia teaching in recent years. For example, displaying too fast for students to have enough time to think, and decreasing interactive between teachers and students and poor interactive activity as well. Therefore, we should keep in mind that multimedia is just an aid or a tools, using it correctly, so whether apply the multimedia teaching or not must depends on the content of the text, through this analysis will let the teachers know the multimedia more clearly so that use it correctly and effectively.A multitude of researchers made the same analysis and investigation of the problems and countermeasures of the application of multimedia teaching. Wang Genshun, Wang Qian mentioned that as a new teaching mode in current trend, multimedia teaching to some extent changed the traditional classroom teaching model, greatly improved the teaching efficiency. But there still has some unresolved problems in the practical application of the multimedia teaching process, and making it difficult to achieve the best results, even walk into the misunderstanding of multimedia teaching, seriously restricted the improvement of teaching quality and the overall quality of training of the students, the interaction between students and teachers. Owing to too much multimedia teaching content lead to the quality of courseware is not high. This article briefly analyzed the reasonable use of multimedia technology in the classroom, and to provide a reference for the majority of teachers. Zhang Yanan also argued that its disadvantages inevitably highlights. In the teaching process, CAI was taken as a tool. As for behavioral learning theory, that is CAI focus on the advantage in auditory and visual stimulus, and increase the intensity of stimulation. In teachers application of CAI in their teaching, often appear overly dependent on the software platform, which will inevitably reduce the direct interaction between students. According to constructivist theory, in the process of implementation of teaching activities, students should be seen as the main body, and teachers just play the role of guidance to assist students. Courseware lacks specificity on students existing learning difficulties. Teachers abilities on computer application and understanding of CAI need to be improved. Teachers consciousness of using CAI is still relatively poor and do not know how to achieve the integration of CAI and English course. Jiang Xiaowen mainly discussed some problems of teaching with multimedia and put forward some reasonable recommendations of the use of multimedia in connection with problems. Many teachers use multimedia in their classes, thus wrongly using it which leads to dissatisfying effect or even failure. For example, restrict the relationship between teacher and student. Redundantly use multimedia in class. The students have difficulty in getting hold of the teaching content. Make against the train of students imagination. Easily cause the wasting of resources. There are also many suggestions for improving them. Avoid turning the English class into the class that shows courseware. Combine the multimedia with other teaching means.Chen Li, Huang Xinxiang explained that there are also some deficiencies in multimedia teaching. One of the characteristics of multimedia teaching is the excessive visualization, the fast-paced and informative which prevent students from thinking independently, acquiring knowledge. At the same time, the standard procedure of multimedia teaching limits the teachers initiative and students interaction with teachers. Teachers should emphasize the harmony and unity of content and form, use multimedia according to the actual needs, and teachers should play a leading role and form a good interaction with students in multimedia teaching.From Zhang Chunhus perspective, multimedia teaching has brought a revolution to traditional teaching in the classroom, bringing a refreshing feeling. It is difficult for students to keep up with steps and teacher-student interaction less. If using a combination the blackboard with multimedia, could avoid the appearance of the defects.Wang Hong, Li Qingwei, Zhang Deying commented that the teachers misunderstood the meaning of multimedia teaching, such as teachers are pursuing various styles with low-level courseware, at the same time, the essential content are ignored by teachers, informative information makes students feel fatigue during the class. In other words, too much information limits the range of receiving knowledge. In order to take full use of multimedia, teachers should take measures to improve the ability to make courseware and use multimedia in accordance with the teaching content, and teaching models should be changed to achieve better teaching effect.Gao Xiaoli, He Wen, Zhuang Lanhua discovered that the values of multimedia teaching are misunderstood by educators. Teachers turn auxiliary tool into primary tool and overdependent on courseware lead to the poor courseware, less interaction between teachers and students. So it is hard for students to digest too much knowledge. It is necessary to use multimedia flexibly, update teachers multimedia conception, take security measures for network as soon as possible.This essay tries to primarily analyze the problems and solution of the multimedia teaching. It mainly uses the method of analyzing this article in detail, and it aims to make teacher understand this method more profoundly and know more about the multimedia techniques and styles for teaching efficiency. 3.The Basic Concepts of Multimedia Teaching 3.1 What is multimedia?The standard definition of multimedia has not unified, generally speaking, multimedia can best be defined as various combinations of text, graphics, sound, animation and video with links and tool that let the teacher/learner navigate, interest and communicate with the computer. Therefore, we should understand the meaning of multimedia from the broad and narrow meanings. In broad terms, Multimedia uses computers to present text, audio, video, animation, interactive features, and still images in various ways and combinations made possible through the advancement of technology. Such as TV, computer, network, DVD, etc. From narrow view, multimedia refers to combining two or more communication ways, carriers of media, human-computer interaction information exchange and dissemination, in other words, it is a carrier or means that mixed with many kinds of multimedia information under computer control.In this article, multimedia is explained one of two or more media man-machine interactive exchange of information and communication media.3.2 The definition of multimedia teachingMultimedia teaching refers to use modern teaching media reasonably in the process of teaching with the integration of animation, audio, graphics, text and full-motion video through computer hardware and software for education on the basis of teaching objectives and the characteristics of teaching objects to display the dynamic image and colorful graphics, transfers a large number of teaching information in a short time and combine the traditional teaching means to reach the optimist teaching effect. In a word, multimedia teaching is multimedia technology in teaching field of specific using.3.3 The definition of multimedia courseware Multimedia courseware is an extremely important factor in multimedia teaching. Simply to say, it is a kind of tool to support teaching for teachers or learners to evaluate. According to teaching objectives and their own ideas, makers first carry on the overall classification and organization of the information, then integrate the text, graphics, images, sound, animation, video and other media material both in time and space, and at the same time give them interactive features to produce a variety of colorful multimedia software products.4.The Problems of the Use of Multimedia Teaching4.1 Teachers false cognition about the multimedia teachingThere are many teachers who unilaterally think of multimedia-aided teaching as teaching using computer. In fact, computer-aided teaching has two meanings: one is take the place of teacher to do some jobs in a way of designing suitable script, the other is as the “walking stick” of teacher.The reality of computer-aided education is based on regarding computer as medium. Assistance is its core character, namely, assisting teacher, other than replacing teacher with a media. Now, LED screen has substituted the textbook. In class, the teacher always operates computer, which virtually disperse the teachers attention, reduce the teachers emotion. At the same time, in order to play multimedia courseware all the time, some teachers sit in front of the computer operating platform to explain the multimedia courseware content, similar to the narrator or voice-over form, between the teachers and students not only space distance expanded, but the non-auditory information brought by face-to-face communication loses. Without communication with students, which cannt gets what they want. Most of time, students just get knowledge passively, teachers cannot find the suitable teaching methods in accordance with students actual needs. The class will become a courseware demonstration, in which the teachers leading role and the students main body role are neglected.4.2 Poor quality of multimedia courseware and teaching effectSince the majority of specialized teachers dont know enough about the multimedia technologies and teaching law, they lack of technical and theoretical knowledge is another barrier to the use of computer-assisted language learning technology. Not only is there a shortage of knowledge about developing software to promote learning, as shown above, but also many instructors do not understand how to use the new technologies. It results in the design level of courseware is not high. Multimedia content is often from the teaching material mechanically, neglecting the focus and difficulty of teaching, and has few in teachers own play or other reference. Some teachers blindly pursue the lively form and artistic effects in their multimedia courseware to meet the students interests. They excessively use strong color and animation, which leads to students attention dispersion. And also, they unknowingly regard the spirit of joy as the learning objectives, which reduce the effectiveness of classroom teaching. However, in reality, many teachers do their courseware like recording running account. No changes in the depth and breadth in their courseware. Some teachers think that each material has characteristics in the collection of frontiers of knowledge, so they want to use all of them. It leads the supplementary contents to be the focus and dilute the focus and difficulty of teaching content. So it makes a whole class become disorganized instead and the students seem to fall into the fog. 4.3 The fast-paced and informative characteristics of multimedia make students difficult to acquire knowledge The multimedia teaching has great information content and fast rhythm, it will not cause the keys outstanding. Too much information can enable students to keep up with the class schedule and only have a passive acceptance of teaching content, which will cause the lack of active thinking process and disfavor the students to master the difficult and key point. In addition, the insert of more animation flies in the multimedia courseware can easily distraction. In the multimedia teaching, courseware for teachers is prepared in advance. It really saves a lot of time. But it is bound to greatly accelerate the teaching rhythm and at the same time it increases the amounts of information. The excessive amounts of information will make the students feel hard to breathe, let alone have time to digest the knowledge. The fast-paced and high-capacity multimedia teaching often makes students have no time to think. In other words, when teachers have class, they show the content of the class page after page through the mouse operation. If teachers are a little attention, it is easy to appear the situation of too fast teaching. Students can not take notes in time. Even it appears the situation under which students do not know what the teacher talked about at that time. 4.4 Teachers redundantly use and rely on the multimedia easily leads to the lack of communication and interaction between teachers and students Many teachers think that multimedia can replace the traditional teaching means completely and become the only teaching method that can depend on.
