本文主要是对英汉幽默语 言进行对比研究 并探讨了幽默语言 的翻译问题 论文首先对比英语和汉语中用语言创 造幽默的情况 通过从修辞格 语音 词语 句法手段 歧义现象等创造幽默的语言手 段的逐项比较 并以较多的幽默实例证明 英语和汉语创造幽默的语言手段有相似之处 此外 幽默语言是一种社会文化现象 它往往与宗教信仰 社会观念 文化习俗等有着 密切的关系 东西方文化的特色不可避免地反映在各自的语言上 使得英汉幽默语言各 自有着丰富的文化内涵 东西文化背景的人对幽默语言的使用有着不同之处 本文在对 中西文化进行对比的基础上 专门就在美国文化和中国文化分别影响下的英汉幽默语言 的差异提出三个假设 中国人和美国人的幽默语言的主题不同 幽默语言的功能不同 幽默语言的艺术体裁不同 这些假设从中外一些从事幽默研究的学者的论述以及具体实 例得到证明 本文还探讨了幽默语言的翻译问题 首先分析了幽默语言的可译性和不可 译性 并指出在翻译一些语言创造的幽默和文化幽默时 译者往往无法同时保留原文的 意思与幽默功能 这些幽默被认为是不可译的 但是如果从奈达的 功能对等 的角度 出发 不可译的幽默又是可译的 即译者可以通过改变原文文本的意思来保留译文的幽 默功能 以尽可能地实现和原文的功能对等 本文分别对不可译的语言创造的幽默和文 化幽默提出了具体的翻译策略
