山西省阳城县2015高考英语阅读理解一轮优选练习(6)及答案【2014高考英语福建省联考试卷】i feel it enormous responsibility, as a mother of two little girls, to lead you down a path that is relatively healthy when it comes to beauty and self-image. in a lot of womens eyes ive probably already failed in that respect due to the amount of pink princess barbie (芭比娃娃) mess cluttering up (堆满) veras room. but i will say something about barbie: i played with that stuff for a solid decade when i was growing up and here i am now at a healthy weight with a healthy outlook on my body and image. i have a successful career. if barbie was really so damaging to my femininity (女性气质) and self-image i highly doubt i could list all of the accomplishments.but i get it too. its hard for women to maintain a healthy self-image. i have girlfriends around whom i have to brace myself to see, because just being around them makes me self-conscious. i look at old pictures of my mother and wonder why ive never been able to be as skinny as she was. and then i have friends who are thinner than their mothers ever were. we women go round and round in circles, holding hands and trying to be one another sometimes. men like to think we dress and style ourselves for them, but why would we when they hardly notice? ive never tried so hard to look good when i know im about to meet up with a stylish girlfriend. its she who will notice my slimmed-down waist or the thinnest, little bracelet on my arm.and i have no doubt that the two of you, veronica and juliette, will endlessly compare yourselves to each other. you will wonder why one of you got longer legs or shinier hair. the thing ill tell you is this: not even the prettiest of us feel settled. the girl you think looks the most perfect in the world is probably the girl who wants to change herself more than anyone else.dont take these on. you are not worthless. you are so full of love and light and you should let it shine through your every second. if someone pushes you down for standing tall then just push yourself back up and stand even taller. and know that the reason they push you down in the first place is just because theyre scared.68. from the second paragraph, we can infer that the author _.a. regrets buying so much barbie stuff for her daughtersb. thinks loving barbie makes her not confident about her self-imagec. owes her beauty and success to playing with barbied. thinks playing with barbie caused no damage to her beauty and success69. in the third paragraph, the author intends to show that _.a. women tend to be proud of their beautiful friendsb. she cares much about her appearance c. she feels proud of her mothers beautyd. women tend to admire others and compare with each other70. which of the following is true according to the passage?a. the author is disappointed that few men take notice of her slim figure.b. the author cares more about looking good before her girlfriends.c. girls should constantly compare themselves with others to improve their beauty. d. only the prettiest girl can feel confident about her beauty.71. the author advises her daughters that _.a. they should be cautious not to be pushed down by othersb. they should care much about their strong points instead of appearances c. they should try to grow taller than othersd. they should care more about others opinions【参考答案】6871ddbb c82013天津卷 -blast nights at some level. each week we spend hours playing or watching others compete in sporting activities all over the world. we cannot help being impressed by the level of excellence that these people achieve.in sport and business, competition encourages excellence in performance. where there is no competition, improvement in performance is less likely. some level of competition is a have-to in all aspects of life.the following story makes this point.as two friends are hiking in the forest they come across a huge, ferocious and obviously hungry bear. its next meal has just come into sight, and they are it! the first friend calculates that the bear will catch them in 27.3 seconds. at that point, she panics, realizing there is no escape. she faces her friend, with the fear of death in her eyes. to her amazement, she observes that her friend is not scared at all. on the contrary, her friend is quickly but calmly taking off her hiking boots and putting on running shoes. “what do you think youre doing?”the first hiker says to her companion. “youll never be able to run faster than that bear”. “thats true,” says the companion,“but all i have to do is escape, faster than you.”we all compete when the motivation is strong enough. however, competition is not the real purpose of life. fulfilling the measure of our creation can only be achieved individually.most of time, we are not in competition with any other person, so we do not have to compare ourselves with others. there is only one person that can fulfill our role and that is us. this means that others cannot beat us to the finish line because there is no race. this is not to say that others do not have a similar role to us, but it is never the same. this is important to understand if we are going to enjoy life. every human being is unique and cannot be cloned. in this, i am not referring to the body, only to the spirit, soul, or the essence of a person.72. the first 4 paragraphs tell us that competition . a. is necessary though harmful b. only exists in sports and business c. is unavoidable and beneficial d. is a fight against oneself73. why is the story of two friends told in the passage? a. to advise of us want our children to have a little taste of everything, from organized sports to music, dance and more.but we can overdo it,leaving our children feeling a little burnt out,and according to parent educator diane loisie, its their school work that suffers the most,“after school,if theyre busy in a number of sporting events, besides, they need to do their homework, then the time theyll feel sleepy is in the classroom.your child needs free time.so if youre filling up that after school time, then its during the day theyre going to be taking a break.”professor claire mcdermott agrees that theres a lot to be gained from sometimes putting those scheduled lessons and activities away.“relaxing time is important for children.its time just to do the things they want to do.children can go up to their room,or they can play around.it doesnt look like productive time;parents certainly wouldnt be saying wow,are they ever learning things now? but this relaxing time gives both the body and the brain just a wonderful chance to relax after a day.it helps a child prepare for sleep, but it also helps to understand the learning thats gone on that day.”its hard to prevent signing our kids up for some activities and lessons.after all, many of us want our children to have a head start in life and the chance to join in great activities in the arts or sports is part of that.however, loisie feels that in
