淄博市2014高考英语阅读类系列系列(29)及答案本系列训练一共32份,选自历年的联考、质检、期末考试题,很多训练题有详细的解析。完形填空b32012上海卷 directions: for each blank in the following passage there are four words or phrases marked a, b, c and d. fill in each blank with the word or phrase that best fits the context. people on a college campus were more likely to give money to the march of dimes if they were asked for a donation by a disabled woman in a wheelchair than if asked by a nondisabled woman. in another _50_, subway riders in new york saw a man carrying a stick stumble (绊脚) and fall to the floor. sometimes the victim had a large red birthmark on his _51_ ; sometimes he did not. in this situation, the victim was more likely to _52_ aid if his face was spotless than if he had an unattractive birthmark. in _53_ these and other research findings, two themes are _54_ : we are more willing to help people we like for some reason and people we think _55_ assistance. in some situations, those who are physically attractive are more likely to receive aid. _56_ , in a field study researchers placed a completed application to graduate school in a telephone box at the airport. the application was ready to be _57_, but had apparently been “lost”. the photo attached to the application was sometimes that of a very _58_ person and sometimes that of a less attractive person. the measure of helping was whether the individual who found the envelope actually mailed it or not. results showed that people were more likely to _59_ the application if the person in the photo was physically attractive. the degree of _60_ between the potential helper and the person in need is also important. for example, people are more likely to help a stranger who is from the same country rather than a foreigner. in one study, shoppers on a busy street in scotland were more likely to help a person wearing a(n) _61_ tshirt than a person wearing a tshirt printed with offensive words. whether a person receives help depends in part on the “worth” of the case. for example, shoppers in a supermarket were more likely to give someone _62_ to buy milk rather than to buy cookies, probably because milk is thought more essential for _63_ than cookies. passengers on a new york subway were more likely to help a man who fell to the ground if he appeared to be _64_ rather than drunk.50. a. study b. way c. word d. college51. a. hand b. arm c. face d. american university,i often hear a phrase from students:“im only a 1050.” the unlucky students are speaking of the score on the scholastic aptitude test (sat),which is used to determine whether they will be admitted to the college or university of their choice,or even have a chance to get a higher education at all.the sat score, whether it is 800,1100 or 1550,has become the focus at this time of their life.it is obvious that if students value highly their test scores, then a great amount of their selfrespect is put in the number.students who perform poorly on the exam are left feeling that it is all over.the low test score, they think, will make it impossible for them to get into a good college.and without a degree from a_prestigious_university,they fear that many of lifes doors will remain forever closed.according to a study done in the 1990s,the sat is only a reliable indicator of a students future performance in most cases.interestingly,it becomes much more accurate when it is set together with other indicatorslike a students high school grades.even if standardized tests like the sat could show a students academic proficiency(学业水平),they will never be able to test things like confidence, efforts and will power, and are unable to give us the full picture of a students potentialities(潜力).this is not to suggest that we should stop using sat scores in our college admission process.the sat is an excellent test in many ways, and the score is still a useful means of testing students.however,it should be only one of many methods used.1.the purpose of the sat is to test students_.a.strong willb.academic abilityc.full potentialitiesd.confidence in school work2.students selfrespect is influenced by their_.a.scores in the satb.achievements in mathematicsc.job opportunitiesd.money spent on education3.the underlined phrase “a prestigious university” probably means “_”.a.a famous universityb.a technical universityc.a traditional universityd.an expensive university4.this passage is mainly about_.a.how to prepare for the satb.stress caused by the satc.american higher educationd.the sat and its effects1.however,many of the young readers are getting interested in such poisonous reading, which costs them what they should pay for their breakfast and brings them nightmares and immoral ideas in return.(完形填空第二段倒数第二句)然而,许多年轻的读者对这些有害刊物非常感兴趣,而这些刊物花掉了他们本该去买早饭的钱,反而给他们带来了噩梦和邪恶的想法。(1)i bought him a drink in return for his help.我请他喝酒以酬谢他的帮助。(2)on his return he reported his findings to the committee.他一回来就向委员会报告结果。(3)have you returned the novel to the library?那本小说你还给图书馆了吗?(4)we decided to return blow for blow.我们决定以牙还牙。2.the unlucky students are speaking of the score on the scholastic aptitude test (sat),which is used to determine whether they will be admitted to the college or university of their choice,or even have a chance to get a higher education at all.(阅读理解第一段第二句)这些不幸的学生正谈论他们sat测试的分数,而这分数决定了他们是否能进入他们选择的高校,或有机会接受更高层次的教育。(1)each ticket admits two persons to the party.每张票可供两人入场参加聚会。(2)he was admitted to hospital with minor burns.他因轻度烧伤而入院。(3)the your mother, dont forget to put in something about her coming to stay.你要是正给你的母亲写信的话,可别忘了再加上几句请她来住几天。(4)could i put in a word at this point?在这点上我可以说句话吗?答案-1.b2.a3.a4.d*结束(201*重庆卷) skeptics are a stange lot. some of them refuse to admit the serious threat of human activities to the enviroment, and they are tired of people who disagree with them. those people, say skeptics, spread nothing but bad news about the environment. the “eco-guilt” brought on by the discouraging news about our planet gives rise to the popularity of skeptics as people search for more comforting worldviews.perhaps that explain why a new book by bjorn lomborg received so much publicity. that book, the skeptical environmentalist, declares that it measures the “real state of the world” as fine. of course, another explanation is the deep pockets some big businesses with special intererts. indeed, mr. lomborgs views are similar to those of some industry-funded organizations, which start huge activities though the media to confuse the public about issues like global warming.so it was strange to see mr. lomborgs book go largely unchallenged in the media though his beliefs were contrary to most scientific opinions. one national newspaper in canada ran a number of articles and reviews full of words of praise, even with the conclusion that “after lomborg, the environmental movement will begin to die down.”such one-sided views should have immediately been challenged. but only a different review appeared in nature, a respected science magazine with specific readership. the review remarked that mr. lomborgs “preference for unexamined materials is incredible (不可信的)”。a critical (批判的) eye is valuable, and the media should present information in such a way that could allow people to make informed decisions. unfortunately, that is often inaccessible as blocked by the desire to be shocking or to defend some special interests. people might become half-blind before a world partially exhibited by the media. thats a shame, because matters concerning the health of the planet are far too important to be treated lightly.72. according
