John Martin is visiting Xiao Lis hometownXiamen. And Xiao Li is showing him around. Thanks for your attention.【设计意图】增强学生自主整理信息和输出信息的能力,培养学生的语言表达能力和思维品质。Lesson 3 Language points教材分析:This reading material refers to many words and expressions related to neighbourhood, which can help students better describe their neighbourhood.教学目标:By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:(1) master the important words and expressions, such as fortunate, approach, put up, It has beensince;(2) apply the knowledge to practical use;(3) develop their creativity.教学重难点:Students apply the words and expressions to practical use.课前准备:Multimedia.教学过程:Step 1 Lead-inFill in the blanks with proper words or expressions. Change the form if necessary.John comes to Xiao Lis 1 Xiamen. It 2 (be) six years since they saw each other. He thinks Xiamen is one of the most 3 places he has been to. Xiao Li loves living by the seaside and he feels very 4 living there. Its pretty hot and wet in summer, but it can be quite cold in the winter. There are so many 5 around in the summer that they can be a nuisance. A lot of high-rise buildings have been put 6 recently in the business 7 . And there are some great shopping malls. As they were 8 the harbor, they saw Gulangyu Island, a 9 island with some really interesting 10 . When they arrive there, they decide to stop and walk around for a while. 【设计意图】一方面回顾文本内容,另一方面引入本节课词汇的学习。Step 2 New words1. fortunate原文再现:I feel very fortunate living here. 生活在这儿我感到非常幸运。fortunate adj. 幸运的;fortunately adv. ; unfortunate 不幸的;unfortunately adv. ; fortune n. 运气,财富。如:Fortunately, there was no loss of life in the fire. 幸运的是,火灾中无人丧生。Unfortunately, the show was one of the dullest we have ever seen. 不幸的是,这次演出是我们看过的最乏味的演出了。The car must have cost him a fortune. 这车一定花了他一大笔钱。Fortune smiled on me. 我交了好运了。2. approach原文再现:Now were leaving the business district and approaching the harbour. 现在我们离开商业区,即将来到港口。approach v. 接近;另外也可作名词,意思为“方法”,后加介词to。如:Did you know that an eagle knows when a storm is approaching long before it breaks? 你知道吗?鹰在暴风雨爆发之前就知道暴风雨就要来了。 So far, they havent found an approach to solving the problem. 至今,他们没有找到解决问题的办法。 3. put up原文再现:Theyve put up a lot of high-rise buildings recently. 近期他们新建了许多高楼大厦。put up此处的意思为搭建,除此还有“举起”、“提高”、“张贴”、“留宿”等意思。如:Many blocks of flats were put up in the 1990s. 许多公寓式建筑群都是20世纪90年代建的。Whenever you have questions, you can put up your hands. 任何时候你们有问题,都可以举手。Their friends suggested they should put up their prices. 他们的朋友们建议他们提高价格。They put up posters all round the city advertising the match. 他们全城招贴海报为比赛作宣传。 He can put up here for the night. 他今晚可以在这里住宿。4. Its beensince原文再现:Its been six years since we last saw each other, you know. 你知道,我们有六年没见了。句式:It is/has been +一段时间+since sb/sth did sth.如:It has been five years since I came here. 自从我来到这儿已有五年了。【设计意图】带领学生熟读文中语句,并在此语境中学习重点词汇。适当拓展和补充例句,让学生更好地使用这些词汇。Step 3 Practice Work in groups and try to describe one of the pictures by using as least three new words and expressions.【设计意图】使用图片联想,增添学习的乐趣,帮助学生巩固知识的同时,拓展思维。Step 4 ConsolidationWork in groups and talk about your dream neighbourhood. In the process, try to use as many new words and expressions as possible. Then make a short speech titled “My dream neighbourhood”.【设计意图】该步骤侧重对语言点就某一个话题进行语篇形式的输出,学生通过这一练习,增强对语言点的运用能力,同时也增强用英语表达的能力。Lesson 4 Grammar教材分析:This part is about the present perfect tense and its usage.教学目标:By learning this lesson, students will be able to:(1) master the present perfect tense;(2) apply the present perfect tense according to the context;(3) have a passion for the neighbourhood.教学重难点:Students apply the present perfect tense according to the context.课前准备:Multimedia.教学过程:Step 1 Lead-inI came here twenty years ago.And I have lived here since then.So I have lived here for twenty years.What about you?【设计意图】结合学生当前实际,导入本节课的话题。Step 2 Present perfect tense1. Differences between present perfect tense and past tense: I came here twenty years ago. (twenty years ago, in the past)I have lived here since then. (started in the past, and is still happening now)2. The government has done a lot for the development of the neighbourhood. The action happened in the recent past, but is connected to the present.3. The students have cleaned the rooms for the elderly many times. The actions happened in the past, and are connected to the present. They are repeated actions.4. My friend hasnt arrived at my home yet.5. The room has been cleaned because of his visit.6.
