scream at the top of their voices this summer?its not the hulk(绿巨人)or ironman blasting(打飞)someone across a room, but the catchy beat of the music in disneys latest tv movie camp rock, which came out in the us on june 20.the show attracted more than 8.9 million viewers.so how does camp rock cast such a magic spell on viewers?one reason is that it features the hugely popular boy band the jonas brothers, whom all the girls seem to adore.but whats the story?connect three is a rock group.one member, shane gray(joe jonas)needs to get rid of his bad boy rocker image,so hes sent by fellow band members nate(nick jonas)and jason(kevin jonas)to a music camp as a guest instructor.the idea is the camp will help him clean up his act.there he meets mitchie torres(demi lovato),a teenage girl with an extraordinary voice and a driving ambition to be a pop singer.however, she can only afford to be at the expensive camp by helping her mom work in the mess hall(食堂)between classes.when shane overhears mitchie singing from behind closed doors,he sets out to find the girl with the beautiful voice.one group of teenagers was really eager to watch the movie.the kids took their positions on the floor to countdown to show time.one of them, leah karrels,16,even sang the movies theme,we rock.she explained that she had seen the trailer(预告片)so many times she knew the words by heart.the girls cheered when the movie began, and for the next two hours the only time they got up was to run for chocolate ice cream cake from the freezer.“im sure this is going to knock high school musical off the shelves in stores.this is the next big thing,” said leah.36we can learn from the passage that_.acamp rock will come out on june,20bthe jonas brothers is a boy band loved by girls cshane gray in the movie has bad boy image all the timedleah karrels has seen the tv movie many times37the author tells us in the passage that_.athis summer only camp rock attracted young people very muchbthe story is about a classic music groupconnect three cthe main actress is a pop singer in the movie dthe passage doesnt tell us the end of the story of the movie38it can be inferred from the passage that _.akids learn to countdown to show time after watching the moviebleah karrels could sing the theme of the musiccthe girls loved the movie so much that they even hardly wanted to get updleah karrels believes the movie will be sold on the shelves in stores39which is closest to the meaning of the underlined word“adore”?alove blook up tocrespect d envybi have been a huge fan of disneys pirates of the caribbean movies since the first movie.while i was disappointed with the second and third movies,i was surprised at how much i enjoyed on stranger tides.the fourth movie is more focused on the characters and many parts reminded me of the first movie in the series, the curse of the black pearl.on stranger tides begins in london, where jack has lost hope of finding the fountain of youth. however, when he learns that the spanish and british are racing each other to the fountain, his sense of adventure is renewed. he sets sail and the exciting race to the fountain follows. because the plot is based on a race,it stays focused and kept me wondering what was going to happen next. i think this was a great change from the plots of dead mans chest and at worlds end. in this movie the characters are heading for a clear goal and i could focus more on them than what was happening in the plot.while i missed some of the old characters, like will and elizabeth,i was also glad that they werent brought back for this movie because i think it would have made the plot too complicated (复杂的). the only character i wish i had seen more is jack sparrows father, played by keith richards. i expected more of sparrows past to be shown in this movie because there had been hints(暗示) of his dark past in the other movies.my favorite part is the ending because there is a direct tie to the first movie when someone ends up getting left helpless on an island. i love this part because it reminds me of why i fell in love with pirates of the caribbean in the first place.40from paragraph 1 we know that the writer _.aenjoyed watching on stranger tidesbloved every movie of pirates of the caribbeancthought on stranger tides was the best of the four moviesdthought the curse of the black pearl was very disappointing41in on stranger tides, what does jack mainly want to do?ato find his father.bto find will and elizabeth.cto find the fountain of youth.dto help the spanish find a fountain.42dead mans chest and at worlds end are _.athe first and third movies of pirates of the caribbeanbthe first and fourth movies of pirates of the caribbeancthe second and third movies of pirates of the caribbeandthe second and fourth movies of pirates of the caribbean43why does the writer like the ending of on stranger tides best?abecause it is the most exciting part of the movie.bbecause it brought him hope when he was once hopeless.cbecause it reminded him of watching the first movie with his loved one.dbecause it reminded him of why he started loving pirates of the caribbean.cmen are spending more and more time in the kitchen, according to a report from oxford university.men now spend more than twice the amount of time preparing meals than they did in 1961.according to research by professor jonatahn gershuny, who runs the centre for time research at oxford, men now spend more than half an hour a day cooking,up from just 12 minutes a day in 1961.professor gershuny said,“the man in the kitchen is part of a much wider social trend.there has been 40 years of gender equality, but there is another 40 years probably to come.”women, who a generation ago spent a fraction under two hours a day cooking, now spend just one hour and seven minutesa dramatic fall, but they still spend far more time at the hob than men.some commentators have dubbed the emergence of men in aprons as “gastrosexuals”,who have been inspired to pick up a spatula by the success of ramsay, oliver as well as other male celebrity chefs such as hugh fearnleywhittingstall, marco pierre white and keith floyd.“i was married in 1974.when my father came to visit me a few weeks later i was wearing an apron when i opened the door.he laughed,” said prof gershuny.“that would never happen now.”the report, commissioned by frozen food company birds eye, also makes clear that the family meal is limping on in far better health than some have suggested, thanks in part to a resurgence in cooking from scratch by some consumers.twothirds of adults claim that they come together to share at least three times a week, even if it is not necessarily around a kitchen or dining room table.anne murphy, general manager at birds eye, said:“the evening meal is still clearly central to family life and with some saying family time is on the increase and the appearance of a more frugal consumer,we think the return to traditionalism will continue as a trend.”however, prof gershuny pointed out that the family meal was now rarely eaten by all of its members around a tablewith many “family meals” in fact taken on the sofa in the sitting room, and shared by disparate members of the family.44which of the following statements is right according to the passage?amen spent more time in the kitchen in 1961 than now.bprofessor jonatahn gershuny teaches science in oxford university.cmen spend more than 30 minutes a day preparing meals.dthe man in the kitchen is now out of the social trend.45the research tells us that_.asex equality will only lasts another 40 years all over the worldbthe time women now spend cooking is 53 minutes less than beforecsome commentators have called all the men as gastrosexualsdsome successful female chefs inspired men to go into the kitchen46what does professor gershuny mean by saying “that would never happen now”?amore and more men go into the kitchen and people are used to it.bhe will never let his father laugh at him cooking again.che will never wear an apron again at home.dpeople have no family meals with visitors now.47we can learn from the passage that_.awith frozen food the family meal are far healthier nowbthe kitchen is the centre of the family life in britishcfamily time is on the increase and expenses increasedmost adults admit they enjoy having family mealsdthere were smiling children all the way.charily they knew at what time the train passed their homes and they made it their business to stand along the railway, wave to complete strangers and cheer them up as they rushed towards penang.often whole families stood outside their homes and waved and smiled as if those on the trains were their favorite relatives.this is the simple village people of malaysia.i was moved.i had always traveled to malaysia by plane or car,so this was the first time i was on a train.i did not particularly relish the long train journey and had brought along a dozen magazines to read and reread.i looked about the train.there was no one familiar face.i sighed and sat down to read my economics.it was not long before the train was across the causeway and in malaysia.johore baru was just another city like singapore,so i was tired of looking at the crowds of people as they hurried past.as we went beyond the city,i watched the straight rows of rubber trees and miles and miles of green.then the first village came into sight, immediately i came alive;i decided to wave hack.from then on my journey became interesting.i threw my magazines into the waste basket and decided to join in malaysian life.then everything came alive.the mountains seemed to speak to me.even the trees were smiling.i stared at everything as if i was looking at it for the first time.the day passed fast and i even forgot to have my lunch until i felt hungry.i looked at my watch and was surprised that it was 3:00 pm.soon the train pulled up at butterworth.i looked at the people all around me.they all looked beautiful.when my uncle arrived with a smile,i threw my arms around him to give him a warm hug(拥抱)i had never done this before.he seemed surprised and then his app(application)strange though it may seem“my wife already does that”was a common response among attendees viewing the device when it was introduced at the consumer electronics show(ces) this weeksamsung is just one of many appliance makers racing to install(安装)a large number of internetconnected features in machines in an effort to make them“smart.”last year,it was a refrigerator that tweeted.this year, its wifienabled laundry machines and fridges that can tell you when your groceries are going bad.the washers and dryers, available starting in the spring, connect to any smartphone through a downloadable application.the phone can then be used as a remote control,so the machines can be turned on and off while their owner is at work or on the bus.samsung says its not just something newthe app connection actually has some practical uses.“if you started to dry clothes in the morning and forgot to take them out,you can go to your phone and restart your dryer for the time when you come home,so your clothes are refreshed and ready to go,”said spokesperson amy schmidt.the company also says that with electricity rates(电价)varying depending on the time of day, more control over when the machines are used can help save money.perhaps, but what they will probably really accomplish is what all good technologies doenable laziness.rather than getting up to check on whether the laundry is done, users will instead monitor it on their phones while watching tv.52what can be inferred from the common response of the attendees at the ces?athe machine will be a big success.btheir wives like doing the laundry.cthe machine is unrelated to their life.dthis kind of technology is familiar to them.53what
