ZPEB PROCEDURE FOR “HANGING OFF” BOTH THE TRAVELLING BLOCK AND VARCO TOP DRIVE SYSTEM IN THE DERRICK, THEN SLIPPING AND CUTTING THE DRILL LINE 1.SCOPEThis procedure is designed to enable the ZPEB Drilling Rig Manager to control and co-ordinate the task of slipping and cutting the drill line in a safe and proper manner with the required number of rig and wire line personnel. 2.OBJECTIVESTo have a procedure in place and to make sure all personnel involved are aware of their duties. This procedure will be discussed all personnel involved at a pre job safety meeting before the task / work starts. 3.APPLICATIONTo the following ZPEB rig areas; the drill line storage drum / derrick including the Varco Top Drive System / mast / drill floor area of the drilling rig with the cooperation of the Total Drilling Program, Total Company Man. 4.RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIESZPEB Rig Manager & Toolpusher will coordinate the preparation, moving and positioning of the necessary equipment to complete this task, with the full cooperation of the required numbers of ZPEB rig crew. The ZPEN Rig Manager on site, has full responsibility for all actions covering the following listed guideline instructions to slip and cut the drill line;1. Confirm with the Company Man the well is stable / safe and its safe to proceed with the task of rigging up the necessary equipment for drill line slip and cut operation2. All personnel involved must attend a pre job safety meeting to make sure everyone knows their duties and responsibilities. Good communications are essential by all parties involved in these drill line slip and cut operations 3. All parties on site to comply with Total Drillings relevant well design procedure and guideline information for drill line slip and cut operations. (Check and confirm all necessary wire ropes, slings, shackles, tools are prepared and ready for use for this task / operation and ANY tools required for the TDS location in the derrick can be safely tied off to prevent them falling below)4. With ONLY the required numbers of personnel in the rig floor area, proceed with the following guideline steps5. After getting PTW (permit to work) for the task (remembering it should cover the use of the man riding belt and tugger winch). Prepare to rig up slings and shackles to the crown block base and derrick area at the recommended point for “hanging off” the traveling block AND Varco (Tesco) TDS. Hoist the traveling block and TDS to the correct position then proceed to hang off BOTH units in the derrick on the 30 Ton sling suspended from the crown block baseAttention: due to the configuration on this rig ZPEB, BOTH the Traveling Block AND the VARCO (Tesc) TDS will be hung off together in the derrick6. After the traveling block AND the TDS are hung off and safely secured, stand by and prepare to lower the persons back to the drill floor. Then continue with the preparation work for the slip and cut operation7. After the necessary checks on the equipment are made inform the Toolpusher and proceed with the slip and cut operation (NOTE: at this time there should be a stand by man located at the drill line drum located at the rigs sub frame area with radio communications) 8. Tie off drill wire above / behind drawworks area9. Remove the wire from drawworks drum and coil / spool wire carefully on the rig floor10. Remove drill wire from fastening end point on drum and pass end down the V-door and on to catwalk for measuring and cutting operations11. After cut is made, fasten new end of drill wire to the drawworks drum and carefully spool drill wire back onto the drum, checking wire during this process12. In reverse order (as per the details in section 5 and 6) of this procedure, disconnect wires, slings and shackles (that are supporting the traveling block and TDS unit) in the derrick and reinstate the traveling block and TDS unit into service 13. Tidy up the work site, making sure ALL tools and equipment have been removed from the ALL work sites, that means, the crown block, the TDS unit, and the rig floor areas 14. Confirm with Company Man its safe for the rig to continue working operations PLEASE BE ADVISED: When carrying out the above drill line cut and slip procedure, if at any time there should ANY problems or concerns identified, the Total Company Man MUST be informed immediately.
