1 As people rely more and more on technology to solve problems, the ability of humans to think for themselves will surely deteriorate. 当人们越来越依赖技术去解决问题，人类独立思考能力却退化。I do not quite agree with this idea, although I admit that the development of technology will surely have some influences on human ability to think for themselves, but the influence can be both positive and negative，depending on how we use it.Take the students majoring in mathematics for example. As the internet can provide us with all kinds of information including the answers to our homework problems, those lazy students might never try to do their homework on their own, this will surely deteriorate their ability to think for themselves in long term race. However, there are also some students who are really smart, they always try to work out the solution on their own, and they can also benefit from technology by using a calculator to deal with all those time- consuming computational work, which will give them more time to work on problems that are really important. In this way, their ability to think will surely not deteriorate.Besides, we could confront all kinds of problems in our daily life, we cannot rely on technology to solve everything. As we can never count on a machine to think for ourselves, and to accomplish a complex task usually needs us to think twice, providing us with many chances to use our brains.Finally, we should notice that, although we rely more and more on technology to solve problems, it absolutely does not promise us we neednt use our brains any more. In fact, in order to make full use of technologies, we have to study them thoroughly. If a housewife wants to use a washing machine, she needs to know how to operate with it, which is more complicated than pure labor. And if we take an airplane to travel, we neednt know much about the planes but dozens of engineers and works do. However, this is not equal to the deterioration of our ability to think for ourselves.First of all, the unprecedented development of technology does not promise us that human beings will not need to use their brains any more. Although the invention of all kinds of machines makes our life more convenient, they can only take our orders while one can never count on a machine to think. You can use a calculator to do summation and subtraction but you cannot use it to do geometric proofs; you can use a radio to listen to music, but it wont write a new song for you; you can use a computer to write an essay but the computer only produces what is already in your mind and the ideas of the essay have nothings to do with it. Its the burden of labor work that technology saves us from, while brainwork remains inextricable to machines and we still have to think for ourselves.Secondly, the development of technology brings as many problems as it solves. For example, computer technology has progressed significantly in recent years and makes our life more amazing than ever before, but the concomitant problem of computer virus is a headache to many people. Human beings have to keep on thinking till they solve such problems. And even if such problems are addressed, new ones should arise. Consequently, our minds will not stop thinking since they will always be in the process of looking for solutions.Additionally, if its true that development of technology will deteriorate our ability to think for ourselves, then we must be much more stupid compared with ancient people, since the process of human development is also a history of technology advancement. But the fact is that we are as smart as, if not smarter than, ancient people. Just think of all kinds magnificent inventions such as planes, telephones, washing machines and so on, in nowadays. Besides, human beings keep on making big breakthroughs in science as time goes by, which is a persuasive proof to show that people are not getting more and more disable to think.To be concluded, our human beings ability to think surely will not deteriorate as technology develops.
