General cargo throughput also decreased in 2009 due to the decrease in import of construction materials caused by the sluggish domestic real estate market. Container throughput returned to the growth track as the garment export started increasing in 2010. General cargo throughput also sharply increased in 2010 and surpassed the peak volume recorded in 2008.
