连州市连州中学课堂教学设计表学科English教师姓名June Li授课班级Class 17,Grade 3授课时间14th,Dec.课题How to Get the Main Idea of a Passage计划课时1课标要求和教学目标1.Knowledge and skills:(1)Review the knowledge of concluding the main idea of a passage, learn and master the key sentences of concluding the main idea of a passage to improve the students abilities of using their hands, mouths and minds and to improve their ability of concluding the main idea of a passage.(2)Pratice to improve the students skills and ability of concluding the main idea of a passage.2.Process and methods:(1) To improve the sutdents seilf-study ability by conducting them the ways of how to get the main idea of a reading passage. (2) Using methods of discussion, practice, induction,ect.3.Emotion attitude and value sense:1. Let the students experience the spirit of groupwork and helping each other by teacher-student activities and student-student activities. 2. Let students experience the sense of success by the teachers encouragement 3. Let students know themselves better and correctly by asking students different levels of questions.学情分析Because of the poor conditions in the poor area, most students reading ability is not so good. They cant master the ways of concluding the main idea of a passage, and they dont know how to get the main idea from a passage. So they cant finish the exercise well because of their poor skills.项目contentmethods教学重点1. To guide the students how to find the topic sentence in the passage.2. To guide the students how to conclude the main idea of a passage.Let students learn how to find the topic sentences in the passages and how to conclude the main idea of the passages by giving them lots of exercises to improve the students ability of analyzing.教学难点To guide the students how to conclude the main idea of a passage.Let students learn how to conclude the main idea of a passage by the teachers guidance to deepen the students awareness of getting the main idea, which will improve the students abilities of using their hands, mouths and minds and will increase the students confidence of learning English and dealing with difficulties.教学方法In the ways of asking students questions and then the way of discussing, practicing etc. to strengthen the students knowledge and improve the students skills.教学手段With the multi-media and the traditional ways (with the blackboard and chalk)教学过程设计(详细过程)Teaching ProceduresStep Greeting Greet the whole class as usualand welcome the experts warmly.Step Lead in by three questions 1.T: “Do you like reading English (newspapers,magazines or other materials)?”2. T: “how can we get the main idea of a passage as quickly as we can?”. S: Read the titles / the headlines first.3. T: “But if we meet a passage without a title, how can we get the main idea of it ?”Step Lead-in and Guidance1. The teacher introduce the topic of this class:” How to get the main idea of a passage (without a title) & how to choose the best title”.2. Task 1 Discussion :Have a discussion in pairs on “how to get the main idea of a passage (without a title)”.3. Check the students answers and give them more tips on this topic.Skills:1. Look for the topic sentece(s) (1) at the first sentence / paragraph (2) at the last sentence/ paragraph (3) both at the beginning and at the end of a passage (4) in the middle of a passage2. Summarize the main idea in our own words/ choose the best title.Step Students practice and the teachers guidance1. Task 2 : 1) Let the students underline the topic sentences of Passages A-D in 4 minutesthe topic sentences in passage A.B.C.and D.2 )After the students finish them,let them check the answers with their group members.3)Check the answers with the whole class one by one and point the ways of doing the exercises out for the students.2. Task 3: Do more exercisesLet students continue to do more exercises : choose the best answer for passages E.F.and G.1) The students do the exercises in 5 minutes. 2) After the students finish them,letthem discuss their opinions in groups of four for 2 minutes.3)Check the answers with the whole class and solve any questions or problems the students have.Step On the best titles 1. Task 4 : Discussion on“how a good title should be” 1) Let students look at the title “Building down ,not up”and discuss on the difference between the title and the topic sentence. 2) Let students look at more good titles to find out the characteristics of them.3) After listening to the studentsopinions , show them some general rules on a good title.“simple, accurate ,complete ,new”simple easy to understandaccurateexpress the writers opinion fully and pleteInclude the main information. newThe title should be fashionable, attractive and can arouse the readers interest.2. Tell the students more expressions that are often used to require the readers to find the main idea or the best title of a passage.Step Summary Today we learn “Skills on how to get the main idea/ topic sentence /best title of a passage”.Step Homework1.
